The 27' SeaMaster was Carl Moesly's favorite SeaCraft boat.
When he found one for sale in Palm Beach just 3 months ago he became an energized kid ready to go fishing. I'm so sorry to hear he won't get to enjoy it!! I, like alot of others, would love to have that beauty. I wish you the best in selling her and please give your dad my best!

"BTW: Did you pay the $25 ?? "
Ken ... Of course I paid!! I gave Jason your credit card number! Also ... Before you break out your wallet to restore yours, you should seriously think about saving yourself about $20k and buy this one! Island Trader thinks like I did when the boat was purchased ... Just add the numbers for motors and trailer and the boat and electronics are practically free! I too am sorry she won't be enjoyed as planned ... But hopefully someone on this site will buy her ... That way I know she will be in good hands and appreciated. |

20,000 clams and 2,000 hours, give or take. Janet is out of town and I can move the Volvo. Maybe only six feet of the boat would be jutting out into the road. I could cut down that tree, and get a really big truck. Five O, have you ridden on said craft? Do tell! I can bring my boat down to get you guys out on some fish! Riggers out, but no knockdowns. I`ll contact Tom at the fishin` club. I want that puppy local. Regretfully, GFS |
Re: 1967 SeaMaster 27 ft
Yes Sir!! That I did.
Helpped out Skip & Carla by towing the boat to the ramp so Mr. Moesley could take a ride in his boat. Pretty cool, very nice gentleman and he sure seemed to be having quite the time. It was pretty much dead calm but Skipper ran it through it's paces at the direction of Carl. I must say with 500hp it would no doubt run!! From where I was on the deck, I could see handling trolling rods an easy chore or sighting fish from the helm a piece of cake. Neat boat and in great shape....especially being built in 1967. |
Re: 1967 SeaMaster 27 ft
How much does it weigh on the trailer?
|
Re: 1967 SeaMaster 27 ft
Hey ESD, not sure but Skip would know. It was a heavy duty triple axle trailer balanced very nicely. My F-150 had no issues pulling it, however did not go real far or real fast.

in the neighborhood of 2000 lbs. jus sayin... Oh chit, now you have me doin it!! See ya, Ken |
Re: 1967 SeaMaster 27 ft
How much does it weigh? Originally running weight with 160 hp MerCruiser was 7350 lbs. Since then, add for bracket, twin outboards instead of single Merc, second gas tank and cabin enclosure. CM estimated between 8500-9000 lbs as is.

She deserves a little bit of ocean under her, or a duck. Jeanne is quite funny as well. P`s in a pod. She thinks she was the better racer. Someone has to write this. I would be happy to help. Cheers, GFS |

Re: 1967 SeaMaster 27 ft
Can anyone comment as to the ride of the original seamaster 27 with inboards or outdrive models, compared to the bracketed outboard conversion. Is the 27 a much better running boat than the 23 seacrafts. If I could find a buyer for my seacraft 23 Savage, this 27 would be coming home.

I am usually skippering the boat, so i am on the bridge most of the time, however everyone tells me that in the cockpit that the ride is very smooth. My wife and child were in the V birth watching movies on a ride offshore one day in 5-6', I asked them if they got slammed around and they said no, that it was a little bumpy. It gets up on plane much easier than you would expect, and it planes at suprising low speed. And from what I am told when buddys pilot their boats next to me, that the hulls disposition looks really nice. I traded one of my 21 for this boat and I Have no regrets. It feels and handles like a much bigger boat, you could potentially charter 6 packs out of this craft. Nice rooom in the cockpit and below. The glass in the hull & transom is very , very thick. Mine is an I/O Mercruiser Bravo 7.4 , with a steel trailer. My 2001 Suburban with 220,000 miles pulls it well. So towing is not an issue. If I could sell my 27, I would prefer the 27 with twin Outboards on the bracket. I do not like I/Os. I cant believe this boat is not sold yet. Hell I may end up with two, it's possible, I had 2 Moesley 21s at one time...... |

Both had astonishing rides, like being on a boat half-again their size. The 27' actually rides better that the 36' Express by Tiara Pursuit. Shortly after I got to take the 27' sterndrive out fishing with the owner, it sank at the dock in my marina. It was called "Raven", and was for sale for only $500 for 10+ years before it found a home. |

Re: 1967 SeaMaster 27 ft
Steve, My 27 is sitting on an old homemade mobile home
trailer frame that came with the boat. I put four new 14.5 inch tires on it to get her home. I would say that the Continental that Carl's boat is on sits alot lower! See ya, Ken |
Re: 1967 SeaMaster 27 ft
I want to say "thank you" to so many of you for sharing your info and experiences.
Sitting on the trailer in our driveway ... The boat looked HUGE! Now sitting in the water, she doesn't seem quite so tall. Although I have heard mentioned many times, she's the largest 27 ... Like being 27 going on 34! We did not measure her on dry land, but improvising by taking several measurements while in the water & measuring trailer, estimating her trailer & boat height to be 12'2" to 12'6" . On the way from ramp to dock, Skippertee had her going about 40 mph, and more throttle to go. I think she could get you home in time for dinner. |
Re: 1967 SeaMaster 27 ft
Am I reading this right? Are you only asking $16K for this great piece of history that looks to be in very good shape? What a deal!
|
Re: 1967 SeaMaster 27 ft
This is where mine would not clear the barn door..
That windshield and steering wheel were just a tad bit to high! http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...ster215028.jpg You gotta love the BEAST!!! See ya, Ken |

Re: 1967 SeaMaster 27 ft
Oh yeah....and the hole shot was pretty damn good also!! I'm not an expert, however I think there is more fine tuning available with the engine heights on the bracket. Seemed to me they were a couple of inches low. The 4000rpm speed was very nice, seemed to be in the same range as my 23'er. Someone is going to get a very, very solid boat on this one for a very low price!!!
|
Re: 1967 SeaMaster 27 ft
I wonder how hard it would be to change the name??

Re: 1967 SeaMaster 27 ft
To what...."The Dog's Mistress"?? :)
