When closing in transom . Has any one tried to use gilbracket to shift wait of ob so water goes out the scuppers and not towards the cabin ? If so how did boat handle when in reverse?

Instead of the traditional 'gill' bracket most guys go to a more beefy flotation bracket. Here are a few options.

boat is bow heavy now. wont added flotation make boat more bow heavy :D

Even the floatation bracket changes the C/G because of the wieght of the motor.
That's why I am filling my walkaround transom and going to a bracket. In other words the boat ends up being longer and you have less flotation in the motor area. The transom is much larger and deeper then the bracket.

i know boat will look much better w/trnsom closed in and safer plus will get a nice livewell outa the deal.just hate the water runing foward hope it will solve that problem aswell. any good pics out there of boats w/brackets in the water? would like to see how one sits at the dock.

Here is a link to a you tube vid. At the begining there is a good shot of my 23 with an armstrong bracket sitting at the dock. Check out the fish cleaning table on the transom. I have a fish box under it and some shorter legs so it does not have to be so high up if I am not using the fish box. Just an idea as you design yours...

I have no idea how it floats yet, but this is what mine looks like with a Hermco double bracket on there. What type of boat do you have? Most seacrafts are lower in the back end, and lighter in the nose.

Wildman, You should be fine. The bow heavy boats are the cabin forward styles. That looks like most of the work is almost done on the transom.
I have seen two boats like mine that have had weight put in the back of the boat. Mine didn't have have it. I don't know if that was factory.

Lookin good. My boat is 23' scepter. Hey mike I to remember seeing weight in a boat in someone's post . Looked like big lead blocks glassed in the hull.

Hi Tris, Yea the problem tends to be in a close chop the bow will plow the wave face because the center of gravity is too far forward. The hull was designed to be a center counsel that is a bit more towards the rear.
I am sure my boat will ride better once the bracket is installed.

hope it will ride better mike. it just seems to me more flotation would make the bow dip foward when baot is still in the water. thats the last thing i want more standing water in the cockpit.maybe i shuold buy that 27' seamaster what a fn boat!

I have been looking around for measurements on a design for a bracket similar to the single engine Hermco.

does anyone have the measurements by chance because i have read so many different idea's on how much higher
the motor should be mounted once the bracket/pod is installed.I will have a 75-90hp long shaft mounted when done
so the normal mounting would be at 20inch but i am confused as to what height it should be once the pod is mounted.

i have been toying with the idea of building mine to extend 60cm/23inch from the existing transom so i can get some deck space
and add some extra flotation with the added pod.
