1977 Sceptre, New York
I am auctioning my 1977 Sceptre on ebay this week. I thought the enthusiasts here would like to know and/or participate. Here is the link to the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...STRK:MESELX:IT
P.S. I made a $25 donation this morning. Thanks and good luck! http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/593/p1010139nw.jpg |
Re: 1977 Sceptre, New York
Unfortunate that you decided to go with an auction as a buddy of mine is looking for this exact boat. Being a looooong way away the auction setting doesn't fit into our plan (buying sight unseen).
Good luck with your sale, I hope you get top dollar. |
Re: 1977 Sceptre, New York
You've got a week to come check it out and then bid : )
Thanks for your note. That's a nice looking Sceptre you have... what year? |
Re: 1977 Sceptre, New York
Its a 79, unrestored fresh water boat.
What does yours have for a drive? |
Re: 1977 Sceptre, New York
Beautiful looking rig. It's very familiar to me.I sent you a meesage via Ebay but it 's been answered here.I'd like to take a look at it.
Any soft spots in the deck,or engine beds, transom,? My son lives in Sayville so I'm in long Island quite often, hope to be there in the next two days.Maybe I'll get to check it out. |

John 123,
I have brought trailered boats on both the Long Island ferries, to answer your question on ebay. I'd give them a call to check their current policies, though. Steve |
Re: 1977 Sceptre, New York
Thanks for the response Steve. 3 1/2 days left, bidding at $2900...

Re: 1977 Sceptre, New York
You're welcome.....I bid it up another $550 for you today. I did not want to see it go for the $4150 price it was stuck on this morning. Just too far away for me to buy. Good luck.
|
Re: 1977 Sceptre, New York
It went for $4700. good deal for someone.
|
Re: 1977 Sceptre, New York
looks like you might have done more than just bid it up...looks like you might have bought it! 4150+550= 4700?

Re: 1977 Sceptre, New York
Naw....the buyer's bid was there before mine went in, that was pretty much my limit. I was going to go to $5000 but after thinking about the cost of getting it to Florida and buying "sight unseen" I changed my mind.
|
Re: 1977 Sceptre, New York
Yes, it is a good deal for someone. I hope the boat is well cared for and I will direct the new owner here as I'm sure he could benefit from the resource.
|
Re: 1977 Sceptre, New York
Man, did he get a deal or what? I toyed with buying it just for the trailer and part out what I didn't want. That radar arch/bimini looked SWEET!
|
Re: 1977 Sceptre, New York
Ironically, the price that the boat and trailer sold for is almost exactly what I paid for the arch, bimini, and outrigger package before tax. I've noticed that when I've bought things for my boat, I sometimes have a internal conversation, however brief, about getting it back someday when the boat is sold. Selling a boat in this market has been an exercise in confirming once again how useless my internal conversations are.

************************************************** ****** Nope,I wasn't the lucky one.I'm an idiot.I figured that there was no way in the world that this boat would have sold for under five grand. I was thinking that it would have gone closer to 8 or 9 thousand at the very least. I was out on lake Ontario salmon fishing on the last day of the auction. We came into the slip and went to my buddies marina where I keep the boat and got on his computer to check the status of the auction. When I saw where it was I couldn't believe it. I'm not exaggerating, true story, there was literally 12 seconds left to the auction when we got onto Ebay,no where near enough time to place a bid(it's the computer for fishing licenses and extremely slow). That's when I realized what a stupid stupid man that I am.I'm still not over it.All because I thought it would go for more than I could spend, and that with so many bids I could never get it,so instead I made the mistake of staying out on the water like a dope. I just hope the buyer realizes what a good deal he got.I wish him or her well with their lucky find. |
Re: 1977 Sceptre, New York
John-
With e bay you can be out fishing reeling in a fish with both hands and still bid on stuff. You just have to set your maximum bid amount on their web site and let the computers do the work. strick |

I just figured that there was no way I could have bid enough to get it,so why bother. I was sure it would go for more than I could afford, and that sure turned out to be a very stupid move on my part. |
Re: 1977 Sceptre, New York
or you can always use skype....that way keep the bids down until the last minute and then it automatically throws in your bid at the last second :D..of course you have to pay percentage

Actually, the buyer had never been to this site before, but I strongly urged him to join asap. |
