23 with twin 150 e-tecs

Is anyone running a 23 with twin 150 e-tec motors? What are the performance numbers?

eggsuckindog 10-01-2011 11:29 PM

Have to be pretty damn good, not sure what your looking for

vcs 10-02-2011 03:15 PM

I am in the process of purchasing these engines, I am wondering top speed, fuel consumption, optimal cruising speed. I just wanted to hear from someone with the same setup.

There was one near No Bones, maybe he has some info

Bushwacker 10-03-2011 04:22 PM

I think Skiblet was the guy running twin small block E-Tec V-6's on a 23. Don't remember if they were 150's or 200's. You could try sending him a PM but he hasn't been on the site in a long time. He lives on Merritt Island, so maybe NoBones will have an email or phone number for him.

I have ran some E-tecs on other boats, I run twin 175 optis on my 23 seacraft, I think you'll be very pleased

Skiblet 10-08-2011 01:51 PM

ok ok you found me.

Yes I have the small block 200 etecs on my 23.They are mounted on an Armstrong Bracket.
Depending on the prop I run here are my results.

21 pitch Vipers
Top speed 64mph 1.6 mpg 5900 RPM
Best cruise 34 mph avg 2.2 mpg

19 pitch rev 4
Top speed 56 mph avg 1.5 mpg 5850 RPM
Best Cruise 31 mph Avg 2.1 mpg

These are with a full tank, 28 gal of water. 4 people and ice.
Runs were done with wind from left to right at 5 knots. Slight chop on the Banana River.

It's been a while since I did these test. So i may be a little off.

Before ethenol fuel my numbers were much better.

"Before ethanol fuel my numbers were much better".........jeeeeeeez. Have you tried the "rec 90" (non-ethanol) fuel yet?? I'm wondering if you would notice a positve difference. Oh yeah, 60+ mph, very impressive.

I want to say thank you for the information, the prop information will save me from having to waste time playing around with different props.

what is your min. plane speed? just wondering i have always wanted twins. but now feel like todays motors are to heavy .

Skiblet 10-08-2011 11:36 PM

The small block 60 degree 200 Etecs are about 100 lbs lighter than the 90 degree 200 Etecs.
I can stay on plane around 15 mph with tabs.

I tried 7 different types of props including Cylcones, Mirage, Rakers. Pitches from 17 to 21.

77SceptreOB 10-09-2011 07:44 PM

Wow!! Those are some impressive numbers!

23 with twin 150 E-Tecs

Keep us posted on the performance numbers!

vcs 10-14-2011 09:48 PM

I took the boat out on its first test run. These motors are amazing compared to my old carb 130's. They are extremely quiet, and puts the boat on plane in an instant. I tried the Viper 17 props it turned 5500 rpm, I will try out a Viper 16 prop tomorrow to try and get an extra 200 rpm out of them. I will see what kind of numbers I get tomorrow I have setup these engines to work with my lowrance hds system. I will post my numbers after that.

GodsReel 10-14-2011 10:21 PM

200's or 150's?

GodsReel 10-14-2011 10:23 PM

how are your drains set up? have you raised deck? how does it drain with extra weight? etc??

vcs 10-14-2011 10:57 PM

They are 150's and yes the boat is self bailing, when I had the bracket and transom done I had the drains moved to drain out the transom and closed the thru floor drains.

GodsReel 10-15-2011 09:07 PM

did you raise the floor, could you take a pic of your set up, i have a 225 yami on float bracket and am thinking about doing it , but some have said it won't work without raising deck.

vcs 10-17-2011 09:31 AM

No the floor did not get raised, I am getting ready to have the floor replaced and will keep it at the same height
