Caught the last hour of the outgoing tide today. Made five drifts just inside the inlet and whacked a healthy Pompano on each one.
The big one was 17" (3 1/2 lbs) on the Boga Grip..................Good eats for sure :p BTW: My shoe is size 11 |
Dang!,that will make a pompously Gucci dinner;)

Hi Don
Yes, I used Docs Yellow / Pink but I added a 1" Green Chartreuse Glup Minnow for an appetizer. I was getting tapped just about every cast....... Take care |
hmmm how do you plan to cook them?
|
Nice work Chuckles!
Been meaning to try that Gulp. How do you like it? Cheers, GFS |

Really, I did manage to get some in my mouth and I'm not impressed. I'm not really sold on their products just yet. I do have some Gulp eels I would'nt mind attaching to a big feather and sling it to some cobs  |
I don't use it often but find Gulp is a very effective bait in SD bays and beaches. 3 inch shrimp is a killer for shortfin corvina (our version of the sea trout/weakfish, etc.). Their sand fleas are excellent for surf-fishing CA corbina or surf perches.
Buying it in the canisters for 20 clams is the best deal and dropping swimbaits or grubs in the juice for a few days will improve your catch. They will outlast most plastics probably 2 or 3 to 1. Just don't let the bait dry on your hook. Berkeley is hiring some pretty good chemists. The stuff should probably be banned from tournaments;) |
Nice pompano Capt!
I've been running a 60 Searay out of Hobe Sound for the last couple of winters. I took the owner over to the inlet in his new toy (27 oceanmaster) and we caught a bunch of bluefish. I had no idea there were bluefish in florida. Did you see the tugs lining up the dredge pipes? About time...That inlet is horrible. I shit myself a couple times going through there over the summer. I did hear on the VHF that a 74' ran aground last week. You really need to hug that south jetty and green daymarker or your screwed. I will have to steal your fishing advice and drift for some pompano on the next trip down. Have any sailfish advice? |

Since the net ban, our fishery is getting better. They need a Herring thought up North. Ground up for our ocean. Topside up, GFS |

Hey Capt., I ran into Doc the other day, he's still kicking along at around 75 years old. Amazing how many jigs he has in the back of his pick up truck!!
