No seafari for erik

So...the owner's friend called me and said we have to cancel the seatrial because the owner no longer wants to sell. Thanks to all of you who gave excellent advice! I may still hang around!:)

NoBones 03-16-2012 10:00 PM

Dang-it Erik!!!
Here I turned my monitor on it's side to view your pics..
Sorry it did not work out, but there is always tomorrow!! ;)

Erik 03-16-2012 10:09 PM

Well...now you can lay down...keep your eyes open and look at sideways boat pics. I learned a lot about Seacraft...thanks.

NoBones 03-16-2012 10:26 PM

Hang in there!! There are a lot more out there at a better price
and condition then this one!

OK, bed time for Bonzo...;):)

nite, nite...:D

Bushwacker 03-16-2012 11:35 PM

Erick,

Sorry it didn't work out, but I'm sure it was an educational experience! Suggest you continue hanging out here to learn even more!

20/20 hindsight says the owner's initial asking price indicated he wasn't too serious about selling it! You ought to tell him you'd like to go for a ride in it anyway the next time he takes it out, just to get a feel for how these boats ride! Warning: You will be forever spoiled and will quit looking at anything but a SeaCraft! Denny

McGillicuddy 03-16-2012 11:54 PM

Too bad, but I'd probably have trouble parting with mine, too...Dude's probably been lurking here and realized what a cool little boat he has.
I noticed 3 or 4 23s up there - a couple Sceptres and a walkaround. You might go check those out as they were also in the 6k range. You'll need a full size truck for those, but they will be great fishing rigs...

strick 03-17-2012 08:13 AM

Erik-

There is one over here in Calif for sale. I know a guy that shipped a Seafari from New York to Calif once.

strick

Erik 03-17-2012 08:40 AM

Thanks!

When I spoke to the Seacraft guy a few weeks ago, he mentioned that the boat had a good following. I think his friend talked him out of selling. Hey...it happens. I think I will hang around and keep learning. For those unfamilair with The Great South Bay, it gets a bit rough and from what I've learned here, a Seacraft would be great. But, I will be out on the water this season, Seacraft or not. But...
I'm in Islip, Long Island. If anyone hears of a Seacraft for sale (that you don't want), let me know. Thanks! Strick---I think the shipping from Cali would put me out of budget...but thanks!

gofastsandman 03-17-2012 09:18 AM

There`s yellow one down here for 4500. Newer Yami and looks like recent paint.

Erik 03-17-2012 10:58 AM

Yellow matches my Jeep!

Sounds great, but shipping would be a problem.:(

bilgerat 03-17-2012 11:13 AM

If it's the one I'm thinking about with no windshield, it's got a 140 Johnzuki on a bracket with a soft transom. Too bad he didn't redo the transom before spending all that $ on it!

jorgeinmiami 03-17-2012 01:36 PM

I have seen a few for sale down here is south florida
let me know if you want me to look at any
Also there have been some down in the keys for sale

I know its a drive but the weather is great

Erik 03-17-2012 05:11 PM

Thanks!

I appreciate the offers, but I need to find one on Long Island. If I run into any that are for sale over here and out of my price range :D I'll let you guys know!

DonV 03-17-2012 07:11 PM

This one is next to a house in Lake Park. Looks nice from the weeniemobile. Roller trailer, blue bimini, windshield, Yami, and looks to be ready to go.

I found my brother in Ma. his old Miamah Mako here. He flew down and rented an suv.

Now you have Me thinking.

Bushwacker 03-17-2012 09:45 PM

Sandy, that's a different one for sure! Has it been advertized or does it have a For Sale sign on it? You should stop by, encourage him to sign up and advertize it on CSC! CSC member Tiny, who we saw in the Keys last summer, also lives in Lake Park and has a yellow Seafari but his is an I/O model. I saw another nice yellow Seafari that had been restored with an old V-6 Merc on it at Peanut Island a couple of weeks ago. Spoke to the owner and he was familiar with CSC and has been lurking here but never registered. I encouraged him to register and post some pictures of his restoration. Denny

gofastsandman 03-18-2012 08:57 AM

Not Tiny`s boat. I see another yellow I/O with a young mom and her kids out a lot.

It is not here. I have been tempted to stop, but as you know I just love my cc.

Chrisp 03-18-2012 10:00 AM

I know of a 20 seafari in Mass its an I/O in great shape on original shore line trailer.

Erik 03-18-2012 10:16 AM

I've had a few Seacraft presented for sale...slowly moving up north. There was Florida...then Georgia...then Massachusetts and finally there may be one 15 minutes from me! I will see what's up and I will advise. Thanks everyone! :)

fdheld34 03-18-2012 12:01 PM

Erik,
I will be running up to Miller Place this summer to visit relatives on my wife's side of the family..(I am a FL Cracker!!!)...would be willing to haul a Seafari up there... just one condition...you have to buy me, my wife and son dinner.....
Keep that in mind in the future if you dont find what you are looking for

Hi
Where is it located? I am in Plymouth.

Thats a great offer. I appreciate it. I'm hoping to have something
in a week or so, but I will keep that in mind. You deserve a dinner
just for offering.

A friend just bought a 65 stang outta Cali. for a nice price. Shipped for 600 clams.

Piggyback.

4500 for that package looked like a felony to me. I don`t wear an ankle bracelet.

Keep in mind you have freezing cycles which explode any areas of intrusion.

Many variables to consider,
GFS

Erik 03-18-2012 07:29 PM

Tough one. Unless it's from one of you guys ( I'd trust it to be turnkey if if was from you guys), it would be a risk to buy without seeing and testing.

Chrisp 03-18-2012 08:09 PM

The seafari from mass is in weymouth its in great shape

You'd trust these bums? :D
Shucks, I recently bought a 46 y.o. SeaCraft sight unseen and had it secretly shipped on moonless nights from Detroit to California by an unknown just to keep these guys from hijacking the load:eek:

Who's crazier, you or me;)??

Seriously, Check out the one in Weymouth. An enclosed transom is nice in the grumpy currents of the Great South Bay.

Erik 03-18-2012 09:14 PM

I wouldn't mind seeing pics of the MA Seacraft. :)

Bushwacker 03-18-2012 11:47 PM

Seafari for Erik

Fred,

You just should swing by N. Georgia and pick up "Old Yeller" and take it to Erik on your way up north!

Erik, take a look at those e-mails I sent you from Paul K. in Pa. If that Seafari in Ma. is a red one, he may have considered it so you might contact him about it. I think he rejected it due to $10K price and the I/O . . . he's looking for an O/B model. Price on it may have come down by now! Denny

Erik 03-19-2012 09:52 AM

A Seacraft delivered to my door? How can I say no to that! :D

I'll check those e-mails.

Erik 03-19-2012 01:08 PM

Just to let you guys know...I turned down that Bonanza I was looking at. The thought of collapsing hulls and transoms kept me awake at night. So far, there are no Seacrafts available...there's a "Maybe" in Bayport (right down the road from me on Long Island). However, I'm checking out an 84 Aquasport today...supposedly a brand new Volvo Penta that needs the drive installed (the owner has the drive) and it needs a cooling hose. Aquasports have a great rep...I'll see. Also, I may check out an 84 Columbia Sea Skiff (made on Long Island and supposedly a great hull). I will advise...but...I have the Seacraft itch! :D

Better scratch that itch by going for a ride in one, preferably in rough conditions before you lower your standards and buy something else! The Aquasport ride won't match a SeaCraft! Denny

Erik 03-19-2012 01:32 PM

If a Seacraft was available (local), I would!!! :)

gofastsandman 03-19-2012 08:32 PM

My Brother looked far and wide for a Mako. I found it. You have a free ride north.

I told him no one will ask him why he bought an old Maimah Mako.

The SC rides better, but that is a get you home hull.

That Lake Park boat looks pretty nice.

Expand your fences maybe,
GFS
