1977 Sceptre Project*SALE PENDING*

1 Attachment(s)
I've decided to sell my SeaCraft Sceptre, keep in mind its a project that is in the works. I have already replaced the transom, bought a Gil single outboard bracket and have started the floor and cap replacement. I've attached a link from Classic SeaCraft with the restoration as I have gone thru it....included is a tandem axle aluminum trailer that has newer hubs, bearings and new carpet on the bunks, it needs a cross member sometime but is definitely still usable. ASKING $2500 with everything mentioned (boat, bracket, windshields, teak trim, cabin doors, bow pulpit, ss bow rail, fiberglass hardtop and trailer). Make a reasonable offer on the whole thing or I might consider parting it out. (NO ELECTRONICS) Heres the CSC thread with more recent pics: http://www.classicseacraft.com/commu...ad.php?t=21505 I've paid thru PayPal 8dx43962br598431f! Here she is when we bought her:

Seems like a very fair price and includes a trailer too.

BTW, the link to the thread doesn't work.

Hey Bruce,
That last Sceptre I had 2 years ago now (time flys)was too overwhealming for me..I think it was due to the overall size plus needed so much work...and I got so frustrated! but yours is very tempting!!!

Ok, what's the problem? Is my price too high....too low, time of the year (boating season already)? The vast majority of the crappy work is done (grinding, grinding and more grinding)! I've had no interest to speak of, someone wants the hardtop but that's it. Any suggestions? I actually thought that I had it priced reasonable and would move pretty quickly, guess not.

77SceptreOB 04-02-2012 06:04 PM

That should sell at that price, just be patient. The right guy will come along. Thats a good deal, but I have 2 Sceptres now. Heck the Top and trailer are nearly worth the asking price...free boat & motor.

Blue_Heron 04-02-2012 07:56 PM

Jim's right, your price is fine. It's just that the particular breed of insanity common to those of us who would take on such a project is not as common as you'd think. It will sell when the right buyer comes along. Be patient and bump it to the top every once in a while.

Agree with the price being fair.Hell,If I had the extra greenbacks I'd buy it from you.I know after doing a total resto of my 1974 23' Tsunami how nasty a job it is.Seems like you already have most of the dirty work done.
I'd love nothing more than two 23 Seacraft Tsunami/sceptres one for the great lakes and one for the salt.
Good luck with the sale,I'm sure given some time, it will go,be patient.

abl1111 04-03-2012 08:24 PM

I'm not in the market - I have a 23 Tsunami already. Years ago, I did a lot of what you've done on my resto.

I just want to chime in as to the price you're asking. It's a damn steal !

Anyone who has ' been there and done that ' knows what you've done already ! As a matter of fact, I am shocked at the low ask price. There is so much sweat and effort in what you've done ! She is ready to be finished, power added ---> your asking price + the cost of finishing, would be a GREAT boat, done right, for a fraction of what a comparable resto might cost...

I wish I needed a boat.

If anyone out there is looking to complete a project ( that has been done " right " - so far ) - look no further...

I also like that hardtop ! Looks like it gets the job done and light too ...

Good luck with the sale... I would not sell it for a nickel less.

Hi as noted above, I really want the hard top. What is your contact info, lets make a deal !!!!!!

GMac7 06-05-2012 10:48 AM

Do you mind posting current pictures to show where the project stands as of today? I think it might help your sale.

newellchunker 06-06-2012 10:51 PM

GMac7, theres been very little since the last post, the only real difference is there is NO more floatation foam left in it.....i removed the last of it a month ago. I will try and get some recent pics, however its sitting at a family members under the shelter and I'll have to make time to get over there and get them taken.

newellchunker 06-14-2012 08:37 AM

OK, heres another shot: I'm including a set of Pompanette seats, Lenco trims tabs, the teak, fiberglass hardtop, SS bow rail, rub rail, bow pulpit, Gil single bracket, aluminum trailer, aluminum fuel tank.....and so on. $2500.00. Somebody needs to get her back in shape, I don't have the drive to go on!

78PHMA 09-10-2012 09:49 PM

Im interested in your Sceptre. I just missed 77SceptreOBs hull. I have a 78 20MA project that I realized was too small. I may have my 78 20MA sold. Someone is actually coming from Swansboro NC to get it thurs. I just bought a 24' Grady White because I didnt think I would find anyone else close with a decent 23. PM me what is included in the price and lets talk!

newellchunker 09-11-2012 03:55 PM

seacraft84...I sure wished that you and dad had gotten her! However, it's sold!! Had a TON of talkers, finally had a buyer.....she's in Florida now. I shed a couple of tears and a lil bit of blood and lots and lots of sweat!
