Post your smart phone app here

If you have a smart phone this is a cool app for free! www.seatow.com/app.

No you do not have to be a member.

The Navionics App and my I phone with its great picture taking reputation is the best

for me. I can have a route of all the fishing I do on other peoples boats and their fishing spots. And the best is that when I take a picture of the big fish brought in with the I phone. I also have a chart with the location and GPS numbers on it saved. Wow. my feeble brain is no longer being taxed.

Trader was nice enough to give us a sticky for smart phone apps.

Here is another one that I use all the time when I am working on the boat or in the house.

A Free Level....I mean how many times have you said "Lets check and see if it is level"

Anybody out there with any cool apps?

clouder0126 04-20-2012 10:56 AM

Two of my favorites are:

1) Bouy Data -> http://www.veronasolutions.net/OviV/products/NBDR.htm

Great for Tides and also ummm... bouy data!

2) SeaMap US -> http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/seama...422048488?mt=8

It has all the NOAA charts available for free download.

YeA 20sF 04-20-2012 02:13 PM

Great thread!

I have iSailor on my iPad ... Love it!
App free and charts reasonable. I got all East coast of Fla, keys and West coast up to Tampa for $5 ... Lots of detail, water depths, wrecks etc. can import waypoints, mark your own spot. I use it for basic navigation and finding bugs! Google then check out their website.

TooFly 04-21-2012 01:40 AM

Wx Alert USA
Google Earth (sometimes for topography reference(s))

I haven`t had a phone in six years. My last one is in 25 ft of water. I called it that night and it rang.

My boss is getting me an I 4 so I will be ruined soon.

Fish Rules app

Stop the presses everybody! I found a new iPhone fishing regulations app that really works!

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/fish-...3671?ls=1&mt=8

For $0.99 it includes recreational saltwater regulations for federal and state waters from North Carolina to Texas. If you have an IPhone you should at least check it out. I was totally blown away.

Jeeeez.... Terry, I am!!! I actually upgraded to a cell phone with a key pad, it does more than just ring in and call out....supposed to do something called texting. The keys are rather small though and my typing skills really suck.

See that's why you need a Iphone. You don't have to type... you just say text Don and then start talking...

Really Don its just magic ;)

Same here, heck,I've been using the same cheapo flip phone for 5 years now.I have never even used the crappy camera on it.
I keep thinking about a smart phone, that is until I see the monthly charges.I'll stick with my $49.95 per month plan and the old phone until the Smithsonian asks me to donate it to them.

My Palm Pilot M515 finally died two days ago. I used it for all my scheduling. It took a lot of abuse. I once set it on my truck and drove off with it after a call. It fell in the middle of a very busy road. An hour or two went by before I finally realized that it was missing. I drove 30 min back to to find it with just a few scratches. That was 10 years ago and this thing just died on me. The battery was amazing and always lasted 4-5 days.

Thinking of getting a smart phone now. My son has a droid and my daughter has an I phone. He tells me don't get the i phone. keys are too small and grandpa already hates his. She loves her iphone. So which one would you guys recommend? I'm rough on phones as they are in constant use almost all day long in a truck and out in a dirty dusty environment. I need a tough phone....one that is equally at home in a horses mouth or up it's A$$.

I'm also considering replacing my Palm :)

strick

htillman 10-27-2012 12:43 PM

I do not like my IPhone, it is company provided, preferred the Blackberry, my children prefer the IPhone over anything else. I have been through at least three screens and have used all types of protective covers. Not sure what is the best alternative so it will be interesting to see what others say.

CaptLloyd 10-27-2012 02:10 PM

If you get an iPhone, get the Otterbox Defender case.
