Wicked Tuna tv show

Anyone a fan of the Wicked Tuna tv show? I kinda got "hooked" on it.Normally I'm not a big fan of reality based shows, and I'm sure a lot of this show like the bad mouthing each other is semi scripted, but I try to look past that.

I like to watch the hits on the rod when line starts to scream off the reel.It reminds me a bit of my salmon trolling only on a much bigger scale.I guess all of us fishermen experience the same feeling when a reel starts screaming regardless if it's a 30 lb salmon, striper, kingfish,or a giant bluefin tuna.

I love when we're trolling and all the rods are out when all of a sudden one of the wire rods gets hit and it's tough to get it out of the rod holder.
During those moments of silence, when you're waiting for the hit is hard to explain to a non fisherman.
That's when I remember the scene from the movie "Patton" when he looked out at the battlefield and remarked on war and said,"God I love it so".

As far as the bad mouthing each other behind their backs,it's probably done to hype up the show a bit,but I'll admit that we do the same when were trying to outfish other boats, especially certain arrogant charter captains that we know.

LoL I have been watching it alot these past few weeks. Its a nice change from Deadliest Catch which I still watch. When they caught that 1000lb tuna I was like O.O!

I tune in weekly. I think they edit it to make everything look easier than it is, and to give the appearance they all hate each other. They have a few scenes where theyre talking to one another at the dock and everything seems civil.

I wonder how this will effect tuna fishing this summer/autumn on the Bank?? There's not enough boats there on the weekend already...

This would be the show to watch then, especially when they're fishing Cape Cod Bay. The BFT mosquito fleet on the Cape is made up of a large contingent of 23 CC's, primarily IBs and I/Os with pilothouses.

And of course the star of the show would be the big dog in the little boat, cSickNick.

He is a wicked sick man. it must be the Ouzo in his blood. His idea of a cavity search involves crushed ice in a stepdown.

A 600# + fish came off the wall in Bimini last week. Not many folks chase the run here anymore...

Cheers,
GFS

I'm pretty sure I saw a red 23 in one of the episodes. Or maybe that was OTW TV?

A friend of mine knows all of them guys and he said that the captains were encouraged to drum the drama up a bit. It helps ratings. :)

Pretty good show. Though I still cringe when the narrator says "Glow-ster" in te opening credits. They need to fix that chit. LOL.

I think its mike rowe that narrates it rite?

On a side note i saw bounty hunter when I headed out of Glousester harbor twords thachers last week. Then ran past another classic 23! It was a beautiful weekend, no issues running around from gloucester to the essex river, only got her airborn once.
