i just bought this boat knowing its an 18 foot savage. I cant find it anywhere online but saw seacraft makes a savage. is this an old seacraft and woth restoring. has a rebuilt 235 or 250 johnson that runs strong. please help me out thanks for your knowledge

Nope, not a Seacraft. The lap strake gives it away. The Seacraft Savage is a 23 cutty cabin/center console hybrid.

would anyone happen to know anything or have an educated guess of what it is?

BigLew 08-07-2012 07:57 PM

I suspect someone on here may know, but they will need more photographs than what you have posted. Good Luck. What does the manufacturer's plate say?

fishinusa1989 08-07-2012 07:59 PM

honestly i dont even know.i cant find it. the title says savage1800

An 18' CC with a 225 or 250hp outboard will fly! You sure that is the HP of that motor on the back?

Blue_Heron 08-07-2012 08:15 PM

It almost looks like a Hewes Tarpon converted to a CC, but probably not; the shear line looks different. Check the starboard side of the transom below the rub rail and see if there's a Hull ID number. The first three characters will be the manufacturer code.

ive looked everywhere. i believe it might have been painted over or something. and yes it does fly!!

Sceptre20 08-07-2012 08:51 PM

Looks like an older MFG or Steury that has been converted to a cc

fishinusa1989 08-07-2012 08:54 PM

so then is it not a savage? i cannot find anything about a savage.. and thanks for all the replies and help

fishinusa1989 08-07-2012 08:57 PM

This is a SeaCraft Savage: http://www.classicseacraft.com/Savage23.htm, basically a Sceptre with the windshield removed and helm moved to a center console.

I like lap-strakes. Not a SeaCraft but not necessarily a bad boat.
It looks like a IMP or a Penn Yan.
IMP (Iola Molded Plastics, Iola KS) made many lap-strake boats in the 70'-90s that were tough bay to open water boats. The were all named after indian tribes. Inca was their 23, Aztec their 20, Pawnee, Navajo, Shawnee, Comanche and others filled out in their line. Wouldn't surprise me to learn they had a Savage.

Penn Yan had a 19 foot Savage CC and their lines are very similar. Take some better pictures from different angles. Look for the Manufacturers plate. It will Start with 3 letters and we can help you determine what it is.

Cheers. If you want to restore you found the best site for advice.

Since you live in KS. I would go with Gillies guess of IMP :D

fishinusa1989 08-08-2012 08:51 AM

I do live in Kansas as I am active duty but the boat is from Florida...

fishinusa1989 08-12-2012 08:54 PM

found out about my boat!!

it was built by Coastline boat builders/ Savage boat builders.

i have still yet to find out much more info other than that and I am starting to believe it is a center console conversion. I do plan on a full restoration and would love any help, but seeing as this is a sea craft forum i suppose i better leave and leave you all alone. thanks for all the help that you have provided me with and best of luck with all your restoration projects!!

thanks - adam

It`s The SeaCraft Library of Congress. Anyone is welcome to read, learn, and ask questions.

fishinusa1989.

Don't feel that you have to leave. You are more than welcome and we appreciate your respect!

There is an endless stream and past posted reservoir of knowledge that pertains to most other similar boats and we are all happy to share our experiences. Let's face facts. You have contracted "boat=itis". Who knows, you maybe be fortunate (or unfortunate enough) to contract "SeaCraft-itis!" Don't think for a moment that we want you to go.
