Here's something that was a collaboration with Carl.

Good stuff!

robertedmunds 08-29-2012 08:13 PM

I want to see the interior of the yacht. Do you have photos? I wonder how it looks like.

This was from her first trip to the water. And yes she sports Carl's VDR hull design.

Tiny 09-01-2012 09:58 AM

That's awesome!

That sir, is boat porn... off to confess my sins..I shall not covet thy neighbors boat:cool:

That is fantastic. Any thoughts about reviving the hulls in the 20-30' class for us folks economically closer to lower middle class? Surely some owner will want the matching tender option.

Well, this 36' center console will be the tender for the 66' convertible sportfisherman. I do have plans to develop something around 21' based on Carl's earlier designs when I have some extra time.

Nice dinghy!

workinpr0gress 09-29-2012 04:07 PM

Thay have such pretty lines of their own but every time I've seen one, three boats come to mind; Spencer, Garlington, Bayliss. I mean that in the best way possible. They are so different with the vdh bottom on top of the styling. I've heard of the ride, efficiency and speed but have never had the fortune of spending time on an F&S. Are they predominantly wood or composite or a mixture? I'm jealous of someone, lol.

McGillicuddy 09-30-2012 12:38 PM

Wow, That's a tender! Are these boats all being built @ F&S? Or are you working with other builders?

workinprogress, you are absolutely correct regarding the styling. That's what everyone seems to want these days. I work for Spencer Yachts as well... The 36 is built with Core-Cell and the larger hulls are cold molded wood although they will build them either way. All the superstructure parts are constructed with Core-Cell as well.

McGillicuddy, F&S is building all there own hulls and superstructures in Bear Delaware but the interiors are typically subcontracted out to Belkov Yacht Company in Annapolis. The plan for the 36 is to build a mold from this first one and have another builder construct all others to follow.

Flying Time, Thanks. I hope you'll keep this gang posted on that (36' production) evolution. The work you are doing is very cool/impressive. Love to hear more on the 21 concept when the time is right, too.

Cheers,
McG

Beautiful, can't wait to hear some specs and #'s. Gray hull? A former F&S owner painted the first 66' Spencer the same color combo when they renamed it, they didn't happen to do another F&S?

I know the boat well, the Captain who originally got with Paul on it is a second father to me. My Dad's ashes even went out on her.

I meet the captain after AP Tradition was purchased by her new owner, extremely knowledgeable fellow. I'm sure your father enjoyed being on the open ocean.

He's aces. Learned more from him and people I met through him than anyone else and actually worked for him for a spell on the old boat. And for my old man, I couldn't picture a better place for him, my wishes are the same, can't picture a better place to be, especially if my last trip is on a 50mph custom, lol

workinpr0gress 02-12-2013 10:55 PM

Got any other cool VDH or other projects?

DonV 02-13-2013 04:11 PM

There is boat porn, then you can kick it up a notch or two and make it SeaCraft boat porn....then there is this beauty, it's moved up to hardcore boat porn! :)

This 64 hardtop express with twin 2600hp MTU's will be the next big one to hit the water at F&S. I also have projects under construction at Spencer, Howell and Forbes but they're not Seacraft inspired.

That'll be a 50 knot boat, wow! Those big mtu's are gamechangers for speed, how much fuel is that baby gonna hold and what's the estimated rigged weight?

Hoping to be a little faster than 50 knots... Don't know exactly the fuel quantity but somewhere slightly north of 2000 gallons. I'll have to check with Jimmy on the weight, he's not overly concerned about the weight. He likes to overbuild...

Here is the Grail folks. Right there. Pull a straight edge down her. Pull it on her chine and keel. Every step touches, and that is magic. Air.

How do they get those wonderful numbers?
Thx Carl and Bill.

Air is far softer than water.

Cheers,
Us

Only if I could win the power ball, I can see it now.....
A custom 64..... the possibilities....I don't play the lottery now but here lies another reason to start picking numbers. What a beautiful boat. Not only beauty, but also breed to be a awesome performer.
