1990 merc 115

Ran great when last in the water in September. Control, harness and prop included. 20 inch shaft. I will be looking for a 25 inch shaft due to my transom rebuild. I don't know compression numbers since it is removed from the boat and I am not mechanically proficient to rig it up. If I can find someone to do it ill get those numbers. Ill get some pictures soon.

So what are you going to power with if you sell the Merc?

fly4navy 12-28-2012 09:45 PM

Because I will have my 1998 Merc & controls (excellent engine) available when I sell my Seaway (hopefully by March/ April)

I think Chance is looking for a 25" motor as he's raising his transom up from the stock 20".
No luck on the Seaway!? What happened to those nice Mainers?

$1400 need to sell ASAP, as I've got my eyes on new power in CL.

fdheld34 12-31-2012 08:33 PM

Why did you decide to not go with 5" extension kit?
I would think that if your power is reliable and you already know what you have it might be worth it?

No real reason other than I'm nervous about adding something extra that did not originally come on the engine. I've also heard mixed reviews about installation directions which leave a lot to the imagination. Does anyone on here have any experience with shaft extensions? It's not out of the question it just makes me really nervous. Thanks for any help.

Talk to Tim (Bigshrimpin). He knows a lot about Mercs and he's close by (Onset).

I have done 3 shaft extensions..one on a 135 Merc on my Seafari. One on my 18 (125 merc) and one on my Aquasport (GT150). No problems at all and straight forward. I prefer shaft extensions because I can get freshwater motors off of bass boats and then convert them to 25"...

Nyet!

They were just incredibly serious tire kickers I guess. Seaway goes back on the market in about 3 weeks.
