Saltwater fly rods

Two shoulder surgeries and it's become clear I will never be able to use these -sadly.

Three 14wt fly rods. All are Powell from their Made-in-USA days. All three are brand new and have never been fished or taken outside my office.

Two Powell Axcelerator's (8'6, 3pc, 14wt) with factory sock/tube/warranty card - $190 shipped, each, CONUS.
One Powell AXS (8'6", 3pc, 14wt), no tube or sock but it's brand new - $170 shipped CONUS.

Paypal is fine if you cover their 4% bite. Email is best: mark@markpix.com

The problem comes into play when tangling with fish the size these rods are made for: you end up using both hands on the rod. It's actually my left shoulder that has been on the operating table too many times, the right one is OK....for now!

Incident 1: slipped badly on a boat with no nonskid in the fresh Awl-Grip paint.
Incident 2: prolonged battle with blue marlin with bad (left) arm holding the rod the whole time - four hours to be exact.
Incident 3: slipped on ice, carrying 90# chain, and fell on bad shoulder, was in surgery 16 hours later.

If I might suggest - do not trash your shoulder. Pick any joint you want, but try not to mess up a shoulder, they are never the same again, no matter how much carbon fiber they bolt inside of you during surgery.

Right on Mark......
Last April I fell off a ladder and broke my left shoulder, two ribs and
my tail bone !!! :eek::eek::eek:

My shoulder will never be the same! It hurts me every DAY & NIGHT !!
Thank- God for Advil, other wise I would be a pain killer junkie !!

Bottom line, it Blows !!!

There is no amount of therapy that will make me whole again...

Knees are bad too but I think a shoulder would be worse.....

Billybob 03-01-2013 03:37 PM

Yeah, I think shoulders are a lot worse.
I had a knee replaced last April, and it's great now.
I hear rehab on a shoulder is tough.

Come on Mark, donn't give it up yet, it appears more like hip humping than the shoulder :p

That was a good day if you remember

It's my fault.....I started it with a the fresh AwlGrip. I just couldn't bring myself to put that nasty nonskid on that pretty paint.

Humans start to fall apart after a while. I'm glad that if I was going to do it, I did it on your yacht!

It's amazing that every so often when one of those days comes along, we feign exhaustion and head in. And then a week or less later we tend to look back and say "we should have stayed in the fray until dark with how good they were biting!".

Yeah, that was fun, probably the best day of pulling on crevalle that I've ever had.
