Free Windshield

In the process of redoing my 1989 20 SF I narrowed my console rendering the windshield unusable for me. It's in pretty good shape but does have some crazing at the corners and along the 2 trailing edges. The outside width is 36" and the thickness is at least 7/16". It also has 4 small holes on the starboard side that were probably for an antennae mount. It's not perfect but definitely serviceable if it fits your needs. I would just ask that you pay shipping. Photos below.

Inside length is 36" and the ends are 11 1/2"

I would like to talk to you about your other mods you're doing including narrowing the console, I have the same boat and if I don't sell it, may consider some changes, call me when you have a moment,

So how do I get it to Miami?

otterhound 03-19-2013 06:41 PM

I'll pack it in cardboard and drop it off at UPS :)

jorgeinmiami 03-19-2013 09:43 PM

Let me get some measurements in the morning

otterhound 03-19-2013 10:08 PM

Okay, sounds good. Feel free to call if it's easier.

I don't think it will fit

otterhound 03-22-2013 10:36 AM

I'll add inside dimensions later today. I should have done that in the first place

So tell me, how does the 20SF track when poling?

otterhound 03-25-2013 08:00 PM

I have no idea, it was on the boat when I got it last year. I just stand up there and cast, it even has a "senior citizen rail so I can't fall off the back of the thing, lol! I'll try to pole it when I get it back in the water, could be interesting :D

eggsuckindog 03-26-2013 04:30 AM

I have a tinted one and would love a clear which yours appears to be - wonder how much to ship it, you seem to kinda know. With the tinted I can't see with sunglasses on and zip at night LOL

otterhound 03-26-2013 08:35 AM

Unfortunately mine is tinted as well. It's not real dark, more of a medium tint but it could be an issue at night with shades on :D

eggsuckindog 03-26-2013 03:00 PM

I was talking daytime, mine is dark - but I usually have a half tank of gas, a pack of smokes and I did win a halloween contest once as the Blues Bros

otterhound 03-26-2013 04:12 PM

Here is a better photo in the sun so you can see how light the tint is.

Forgot the pic:rolleyes:

eggsuckindog 03-26-2013 04:29 PM

I could tell it was much lighter than mine, just wonder if it would survive the trip and its such a bulky item how much.

otterhound 03-26-2013 04:37 PM

I have some scrap styrofoam I could tape inside and then wrap it with cardboard. Give me an address or zip and I'll get a UPS quote if you want.

eggsuckindog 03-26-2013 04:47 PM

zip is Tampa 33609, just a ballpark idea would be fine

gofastsandman 03-26-2013 06:34 PM

See if it will fit first dog. Not sure it will fit the earlier boats. If it won`t work for you Dixon, I`ll get in line for my 89.

eggsuckindog 03-26-2013 08:14 PM

I already measured, its pretty damn close from the tape in the pics. I hate having to look around/over the windshield

I'll have him measure the width at the front inside exact beforehand just to make sure, thats the only issue but it seems to be within 1/4" from what I saw - hieght is no issue as is depth. Just need to make sure it goes around the front of the console

otterhound 03-26-2013 08:23 PM

Inside dimensions are at the bottom of the first post. 36" at the inside front edge. Please bear in mind that the windshield is far from perfect but very usable. Just don't want anyone to be disappointed :)

eggsuckindog 03-26-2013 08:31 PM

I'll double check it - mine is crazed like yours and has crack on the side and I can see thru it - will measure again tomorrow but I think it works

otterhound 03-27-2013 11:21 AM

Shipping is going to be right around $60 to Tampa. Even though it only weighs 14 lbs it's the shape that jacks up the price :(

eggsuckindog 03-27-2013 12:04 PM

I figured that, I'll get out there whe it warms up some and re-measure just to make sure because it is very close

eggsuckindog 03-27-2013 03:06 PM

My console is exactly 36" and my windshield is 36 1/4-1/2 for rubber spacers - so don't think I can get it around the console edge

otterhound 03-27-2013 06:59 PM

Oh well it was a good try. My console had a recess around the top and it measured about 35 1/2" so there was plenty of room. Hopefully somebody else can use it :)
