Sanding a transom almost like sanding a floor...
Here's a different idea, albeit a time saver. I Decided that I wasn't going to spend all day with a 6" orbital in my hand so I had to get crafty (read goofy) and get some new ideas. This one seemed to work out pretty well- though the damn sander weighs a ton and has to be heaved every time you want to move it.
Otherwise, its not as much work as it looks. You get it going and just kind of move it side to side ala-pendulum. I would recommend buying two or three white pads because the fiberglass dust causes the paper to lose its stick pretty quickly. Otherwise one sheet of 60 grit seemed to last a long time on my epoxy/cab/milled glass/microbubbles mix. A four hour HD rental was more than enough time. Took two hours to do what i needed (that included sanding the console down). Without further ado: almost like sanding a floor sideways. (and alot more clumsy) http://www.classicseacraft.com/commu...&pictureid=465 |
:eek::eek::eek: :D

Now that's ingenuity on the highest level.

Wouldn't it be easier to just stand the hull on its nose and put the transom straight up in the air? It would eliminate the use of all those rope. You would need a really tall ladder though! LOL!!
Nice work! |
Hooligan,
If you aren't an engineer, you missed your calling! Congratulations, on a great idea! Rube Goldberg would be proud! Denny |
