Well a few sheets of 320 and a garden hose and the old name and reg. numbers are off. I finally got the new reg. numbers after almost a month wait but, the new vinyl name, port, and reg. numbers came in today as well. Hopefully get a couple of coats of paint on tomorrow and by Thursday it will be ready to hit the water again.

kmoose 09-24-2013 09:20 AM

Beautiful find! I love all the original layout.

Copper Collar 09-27-2013 06:54 PM

Welp, the paint color that I thought matched the hull does not. So I am back to square one. Need to sand off the spot that I put new paint on. Looks like I might be able to get away with polishing where the old reg. number were instead of painting. I also contacted the old owner to see if he new the brand/color of the paint, waiting for him to call me back with the info. He did say that he found some more stuff in the garage that goes to the boat, so maybe its a good thing.

Copper Collar 10-19-2013 04:46 PM

Been a bit so here is an update.

Got a tow rig, 1995 Chevy 2500 Burb. It also matches the boat:

First time out fishing. Caught 8 or 9 undersize black sea bass, 4 undersize trout, and 4 croakers:
http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps69d22e75.jpg

Gone out the past two weeks hoping to hit the stripper, but the water is still too warm at 67 degrees:

Good to see you gettng out! Mine is out back holding the trailer down. Perfect weekend here and all my buds got plans......

Mikem8560 10-19-2013 10:14 PM

great find ! why was the handrail sides removed?

Copper Collar 10-20-2013 10:56 AM

It is far easier to get around to the bow without having your feet getting caught on it. Otherwise you have to disconnect the curtains to use the middle window. I have the rest of the rails in the garage.

Copper Collar 12-02-2013 05:48 PM

Went out looking for some big rock on Sunday. Reports were that people were pulling up to 50lbs one on 4th island of the CBBT out to the highrise.

Ended up catch 2 good size sand sharks. Then lost the starter and/or solenoid on the port engine. Had to limp her home on the starboard, made about 10-12 mph on between 2500-3000 rpms. Pretty much ruined the day, but hey that is why I wanted two engines, could have been far worse.

Beaver 12-21-2013 11:17 AM

My 8 year old daughter just told me to write that she wants your boat. She knows her Seacrafts!

Copper Collar 12-21-2013 03:12 PM

Well I finally got some time off from work and the weather to get get outside and try and verify what parts I need to order to get the old girl running again. Turns out it might have just been a low charge on the battery.

Old owner had installed these chargers way back when. I had noticed that the "charged" light never worked on the port battery but never really thought too much of it because she always started up the first time and sounded so strong.
http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...pscf119d8e.jpg

So port is on my charger in the garage and I took a look at which bolts I'll need to pull if this goes furtherhttp://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...scd28826a.jpeg

http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...s6929e612.jpeg

Copper Collar 01-06-2014 08:28 PM

Well I have a small space heater and a block heater on each engine to get through this ridiculous cold spell. Also finally placed an order for a new starter and starter solenoid. Almost positive that I have this diagnosed right, but I've been wrong before, which leaves the voltage regulator which is stupid expensive. If that is the case I'll switch from a stator to an alternator and run both batteries and starters off of it.

That said, I'm saving for filling in the transom, hermco bracket, and twin etecs in a 175 or 200 flavor.

Entourage 01-06-2014 08:43 PM

I have been down that road with twin 3.7's and i could never win. They are great when they are running but when they break which was real often it was 300 bucks here 300 bucks there. It gets old real quick.

Copper Collar 01-20-2014 07:33 PM

Well I went to change the starter and the nuts that hold it to the flywheel housing are pretty rusted. Let it sit for 24hrs with some PB blaster and I tried again, torqued on them until I didn't feel comfortable (points are going to round off or the studs are going to snap). So it will be dropped off at a marine mechanic to change in case it turns into something more.

In other news, I removed the fish box that the original owner had made for it, but had let go to hell (pic on page 1). I knew some of the wood in the core of it was rotten, but went I went to pull it out I found that all the wood up until the passenger seat was gone on all 4 sides. I had a very close look at this before purchase to make sure the box was 100% separated from the floor, without being able to actually remove it. The floor under the box is solid, awl grip, and paint match the rest of the boat.

fdheld34 01-21-2014 09:10 AM

Are you planning on rebuilding the fishbox...would come in handy for extra storage etc...or are you going with a pedestal seat?? At least the floor is solid under there!!!
-Fred

Copper Collar 01-21-2014 06:27 PM

Yes the fish box will be rebuilt. However, I might copy one of the other builds (see pic below) on here and go with 2 fish boxes. I do know that I am going to have a different lid in place and on the forward end of the box I am going to have slide out drawers (toward the center line) for easy access storage.

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...pse677d1b9.jpg[/URL]

Rufneck 01-23-2014 12:40 PM

The picture above is my boat. Those seat boxes are the result of Jim (77SceptreOB) and my thoughts on how best to incorporate well positioned seating and eliminate the need to have free floating coolers on the deck. Both of the compartments beneath the aft facing seats will be used for ice/drinks and maybe for bait. Neither would be big enough to be a fish box unless your sole focus in on fish like that black bass above. You will see that I also incorporated 2 cut outs for tackle drawers. I have selected some 3 drawer boxes made from Starboard that will go into the holes.

Alternatively, I could have made one side a fish box that goes the full length of the seat box and kept the other side as is. Quite honestly, I didn't think about it but I am not sure if I would have done it anyway. The seat box is about the same length as the fish box that is in the floor so it would not have enabled me to keep larger fish. Most of the time we will catch fish that are adequately sized for the fishbox in the floor. We will be making some deep trips offshore where large wahoo and dolphin are expected. On those trips, I will probably just take a large cooler that will fit across the rear of the cockpit. Given that your boat is an I/O, that's probably not a good option for you.

Good luck with it all. I expect to get mine back from the boatyard in the next few weeks and then it is my turn to start doing work.

Copper Collar 01-23-2014 07:57 PM

Well the box that goes on the port side of my boat goes all the way forward, so just shy of 5 ft long. The drawers (a smaller set or 1 large one) could be moved to bulkhead facing aft where the cooler door opens onto (if that makes sense). The starboard box could stay the exact same as yours. You would end up with 1 cooler, 1 large fish box, and 2 sets of drawers.

The I/Os are going away.....eventually.

Engines removed and the helm is de rigged.

http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...psedna7h9a.jpg

http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...psz7mk3bmy.jpg

I was surprised by a few things taking her apart. First a riser on one of the engines had a small pin hole it it that would have flooded the boat if I had of just fixed the starter. The wiring while good on the inside, insulation was brittle and cracking, it was also a birds nest under the helm and in the engine bay, fire hazard to say the least. The wash down pump was rusted away and the two bilge pumps were never mounted under the engines, they were free floating.

Structurally she is solid, all the accouterments will be replaced. Also I think this project deserves the name "10 Year Plan".

studiojake 07-17-2016 04:06 PM

I know the feeling. I am hopefully nearing the end of my six year plan. Any chance you still have the port tachometer?

Sorry, went to the dump last week.

Highwayman 07-20-2016 09:21 AM

Beautiful unmolested original boat. Congratulations on the find.

bgreene 08-01-2016 06:20 PM

Noticing the towel under the windshield center section.....

Is that because spray typically drips on that section, and that's how the previous owner deal with it ?

Nice looking boat - good luck with it.

Cutiger 08-01-2016 06:26 PM

I envy your hardtop. Need one like that for mine.

That is how the previous owner had it stored. I have never had an issue with spray leaking through. I have taken heavy white water over the bow and it came through, but it dripped through almost every seam.

Copper Collar 09-01-2016 03:41 PM

It's at the glass guy now.

Maybe I missed it, are you going back with io or ob power? either way it's a beautiful rig. Best of luck.

Copper Collar 09-04-2016 09:16 PM

Was twin io, going to twin ob.

Rear fuel tank cover out to get re-cored with coosa, was starting to have some flex to it. Rear tank looks good. Need to look at the front tank too.

http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...psmtkxfm3c.jpg

Rear floor in w/ a gutter across the back, mold for the hatch is where the hatch will be put in. Another hatch is going in the transom.

http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...psaf2uobj8.jpg

Beginning of the mold for the new console.

Copper Collar 10-21-2016 05:30 PM

Hull paint is next and then the bracket is going on.

http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...psdonktaco.jpg

Rear deck is almost ready for paint

http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...pshpjvgkfr.jpg
Still need to fill the other holes, but the chartplotter/fish finder mount if almost done.

Copper Collar 11-02-2016 06:33 PM

Moved to the paint booth before the bracket goes on.

Have you picked out your outboards yet? What about bracket, are you going with Hermco?

Copper Collar 11-03-2016 05:54 AM

Hermco is at the shop with the boat should be on this week. I was dead set on 175 etecs, but an now thinking about 175 zukis.

TomParis 11-03-2016 07:18 AM

Well, all you have to do is look at the last Seacraft meet photo, and you will see alot of happy people with E-TECS!

Well not to sure about that Tom.....
I see that cheap bastard donv with that welfare motor on his ole' 23 tub..;)

You know, once you go black, you never go back.....

DonV 11-03-2016 10:37 PM

Yep I do. It's my anti Hillary/Obama's welfare motor....it actually works and does not use food stamps!!

Actually I think Danny with his Zuke and me with my "welfare motor" were the only non eTec outboards there.

TomParis 11-04-2016 10:20 AM

that is correct Donv
