What years did they make 23' inboards
Was checking out a 23' IB in Newburyport Mass yesterday, nice boat, but what threw me off was that it was an '87. Wouldn't that be a tracker hull? I was under the impression the IB's were only produced between '76 and '78
|
'87 according to the title, or according to the HIN?
|
Hin
|
1975 = 21
1976 = 22 1977 = 12 1978 = 19 1979 = 12 |
1987=1? Or maybe it was a custom job?
|
Does it have a tunnel hull pocket?
|
The boat was in the water, so I'm not sure if it had a pocket. Her name is "The Arrangement". I'd love to talk to the owner, I love the inboards.
|
Look for a pocket to see if its real I have seen a 85 tracker inboard before here on CC same color as mine it had just had been painted this boat had a two piece cap on it and it was the hin that I got the 85 from
|
This boat also had a 2 piece cap (there was an insert in the middle of the transom). Not sure I can find out if it has a pocket, I don't know the owner (yet ;)) ant there's noooo way I'm getting In the water this time of year
|
Look at the transom you'll see it if its a pocket water is pretty clear nowadays

1985's are not tracker hulls. My 23 inboard is a 1985 and still a good year. I know they made a handful of inboards that year. I believe tracker took over in 1987.
I am tossing they idea of selling mine purely because she's not getting used like she should. I just re-powered my 32 Blackfin combi for my charter business and haven't gotten to the point of running both boats for the business. |

Wow! That looks like the caliber of boat people really regret parting with. Post a few more pics in the photos section when you got a minute. Your rig just exudes class:cool:. |

I have been using her more to go the beach with the kids than anything else. I either need to sell her soon or keep her forever...still deciding. I have 2 370B Cummins in the Blackfin, I suppose I could get one more and cram it in the SeaCraft...LOL |
I know I'd never forgive myself for selling that beauty
|
Hey Rip what's the material you used on the t-top? I need to replace my beat cloth top and thinking of going to a hard skin just like yours. Do you have any regrets as far as weight or noise with it. Great boat I owned one for quite a while and miss her a lot.
Thanks Josh Outermost Angling Charters |

Hey the motor will fit ;) I thought about something that big but felt 300 would be fine |

Heynow, I think a 300 is probably the right number diesel wise. I don't think there's enough room to swing a big enough wheel to support the power of the 370. I won't go diesel unless I can have a 26 knot plus cruise. The Volkswagon TDI packaged by Cummins is a sweet little motor, but I'm not sure it has enough power for the cruise I want. I may have to get a ride on one with a 315 Yanmar. :) |
I'm getting q 27 Knot cruise with the 240 Yanmar burning 10 GPH. WOT 30 kts.
It's great motor if you can find one and fits beautifully. |
30 knt cruise on mine
You want to go for a ride let me know any reason to use her :) |

Nice

Nice boat Highway!
Heynow, I can't even imagine the 23 inboard cruising at 30 knots. Mine cruises around 20 knots with a high HP chevy 350. |
Love it!! heavy load it is still 28.5 knts to 29 knots I'm thinking about putting floscan on her just so I have very accurate numbers on fuel burn
|
The other cool thing with the diesels is the boat will stay on plane at 11.5 kts!
|
Did you pull your boat riprunner
|
I pulled her, but haven't winterized her yet. Waiting for my mechanic with his 5 gallon jug of mystery winter gas stuff to run through her.
Heynow you still in? I'm keeping the blackfin in for a bit in hopes the late tuna bight off chatham heats up. I'll have to get her out soon though too :( |
