Engine Brackets for 23 cc
 

Brothers of the seacraft community, I am reaching out to ask any input
on what engine bracket you have used in your classic 23 cc rebuilds.
I am leaning towards an Armstrong bracket. I have read that some of you
have used stainless marine brackets as well. I am re-powering with a 2014 300hp Mercury 4 stroke. Also i want to know if you made any modifications as
far as moving the console forward as i have read that some have done that to
balance weight distribution. Thank you for your suggestions and time..

I have not made the bracket leap, but I've slept at a Holiday Inn, :D. I would venture a guess to say that 80 percent of the folks that bought a new bracket for their SeaCraft went with a Hermco bracket. They are renowned for excellent craftsmanship, elegant rigging and maximum flotation.

And your gonna need maximum flotation for yer new motah;)

Just a guess, but I'd wager Mr. Herman has probably made more brackets specifically for SeaCrafts than anybody. Here's a link.

Don't waste time, go directly to Don @ Hermco. There is no better bracket for SeaCraft because no manufacturer of brackets loves SeaCraft as much as he does.

Hermco is the best of the best for these boats. But yes all others work great too. Depends on cash flow. Wouldnt mind one myself one day.
Move gas tank and console forward and batteries under console.

The Hermco bracket was designed by Bill Potter specifically for the SeaCraft hull/transom angle, etc. Very well made, all glass so no corrosion issues, and Don knows how to mount them at exactly the right position!

I've used two Armstrong brackets, one on my current 23 Seacraft and on a Hydrasport 22,been very satisfied with both.

Armstrongs are cheaper, and do the job, but there is much more float in a Hermco. And you don't have the alum paint regimen do deal with. I have a Armstrong, but have hermco envy. Ideally you have a 30" shaft and a larger bracket for a single 30"( or twin 25"). Mine happens to be a 25" Verado, Armstrong, and dare say one of the heavier OB's out there. One big guy has wet feet in corner. self bails at rest. batts power steering pump and reservoir and 130 gallon tank all forward and or under console.

Gen 2? Is there more bracket being added to the Hermco like out to the middl strake I guess? sweet!

I did check out Hermcos site the other day, there was a shot of a hull extension. That looks very cool :). Not on a 23 SC I think. Think Bly did that on his 20?

Some day....Hermco :). Love to see someone Gucci up a SC 23 hull extension almost like a Euro transom on a Contender.

Old's cool was your Armstrong a single bracket or a double with a single on it ? Very good comparison photo of the two- I've got a double stainless marine with a single 200 ocean pro I'll be using feel like the extra capacity of the double bracket should equal out the set back

Not sure...I bought the boat w/Armstrong bracket but looking at the mount I guess single. If you can swing the $$$ for Hermco bracket man go for it. No regrets here.

I don't disagree but since I got mine basically for nothing other than helping a friend for a few hr's I'll stick with it
