Long-Point in May 2-4, 2014!

Ok ... Kicking off the Florida Spring Gathering at Long Point on May 2 thru 4th.
Sites 77 & 78 reserved for Skippertee/Carla (65bowrider) & Ken/Patti (NoBones).
Each site is $31 (incl tax) and good for 2 tents. Waterfront.
Sites 70 to 80 are good, waterfront, and we'll be together for great times.
Call soon & make your reservations!

NoBones 11-19-2013 06:29 PM

Were in....;)

Cannot over emphasize the timeline for these sites!
You have to act NOW or you will be on the other side of the tracks..

DonV 11-19-2013 07:08 PM

Done.....site #79 reserved.

If we want to cover the tip of the island with CSC folks you DO NOT want to mess around!! It would only take one poor soul to reserve a site by accident in the middle of us SeaCraft crazies for that weekend and he would never be the same! :)

Snookerd 11-19-2013 07:56 PM

This thread is now stuck at the top. Also, I'm in too! great job getting it going Ken and Carla.

Sorry Ken, there goes the neighborhood! Your stuck with the Wood boys this go'round. As long as GFS can hold in the F-bombs to 1 every couple of hours, we are there. The site will be set tomorrow.

If my windage and elevation calcs are correct, My body bag should stream down from the sky to a massive thump around 75.

Hey, I grew up in the rest. biz in the summahs. When I die and go to that other place,
that red devil is going to look at my resume and say:

Well, um, I see it says here that you grew up in the restaurant biz so I guess there is nothing new here for you...
Perhaps you would like to be a tour guide...

Cheers,
Potty Mouth

Terry England 11-19-2013 10:04 PM

Carla, Is it true that there is an additional charge of $10 for Potter hulls and $20 for Tracker hulls or is this just scuttlebutt? I know, as the new guy, sometimes people are just "mess'in" with 'ya.

65Bowrider 11-20-2013 07:17 AM

Terry, You been nippin on some of DonV's special brew?
I hope you have marked your calendar this time & have called for your reservation!

I too pity any poor slob that reserves in the middle of our group ...

kmoose 11-20-2013 09:13 AM

OK, maybe I'm missing something but where is Long Point? An island? Campgound? Is there hotels near by? If I can get a hotel should I reserve a spot for my boat where ever this "Long Point" is?

I don't have a camper or tents and my rig is not really set up for sleeping so any specific details on accomodation options would be great. The last gathering worked out awesome for Mel and I we were hoping for similar options.

gofastsandman 11-20-2013 09:46 AM

http://www.brevardcounty.us/ParksRec...LongPoint/Home

All options are there Moose

bilgerat 11-20-2013 10:55 AM

hummmmm..... 571 miles, I might make this one if I can get some time off and can afford it.

kmoose 11-20-2013 11:30 AM

Thanks Sandy! From what I see on their site this is a camping/RV only option so I will look into the availability of a hotel with a marina nearby. Does anyone live near there know of one?

DonV 11-20-2013 12:34 PM

Ken go to post #78. From last year.

http://www.classicseacraft.com/commu...ad.php?t=24536

DonV 11-20-2013 12:37 PM

Sorry, to make it a bit easier, look on page #8 post #78.

kmoose 11-20-2013 01:31 PM

Thanks Don, that covered it for me. From checking out GFS's link it looks like I can pay for parking a non-camping vehicle by the day for my trailer and the ramp fees for launching. This will work great for me as I won't have to deal with the trailer at the hotel. I didn't see any mention of achorage or fees for such. While it doesn't take but a minute or two to launch my sled in the morning it would be preferable if I could just moore off the beach with the group and let you guys watch over her while I'm sleeping off the moonshine and margaritas.

kmoose 11-20-2013 01:43 PM

From some of the reports I'm reading May is a great time for dolphin in and near the stream. I may plan on more than a couple of extra days to get few trips out to troll and or shoot some.

DonV 11-20-2013 02:21 PM

Yes Sir, there is lots of car and trailer parking!!! It's a very nice County park!!

NoBones 11-20-2013 02:52 PM

moose, No problem with anchoring with us! You can almost tie the
boat to your truck bumper. The Floridana Beach Motel is an older
small family run property that is just 4 miles to Long Point..
islandtrader stayed there this spring.. Good people with reasonable rates.
Then you have the Sportsman's Lodge across the ICW to the west of
Sebastian Inlet...

Long Point is by far the best we have on the East Coast for what this
group likes to do!!

Also tent camping is not all that bad, shoot even Capt. Chuck and Donv
roughed it this past spring.. Couple a hundred at Wally World you would
be good to Go!!

kmoose 11-20-2013 03:45 PM

Thanks for the info Ken, I've done my share a camping and can do a week on my boat without issue but the wife likes a bed and bath over camping when she's on a vacation. She's not fussy or high maintainance, but we both were utility linemen in our past life and have done more than our share of forced camping when assisting areas of the country hit by weather disasters.

gofastsandman 11-20-2013 09:07 PM

I`ll be in my motel.

http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...ugust08118.jpg

I set up in about, oh, no time flat.

I`ll pay the Slacker tax and bring Miss Wide Open. Yes Blue Heron, she does exist.

http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...ugust08119.jpg

Please tell me why I like maintaining teak? With no cover...Right?

Galvanized trailers that are really old. How stupid am I?

Rollers.

Hmmm.

Ok, you do not have to dunk your trailer?
Sweet!

The trailers are older than the hulls.

I love minds.

I might have to pull a Gillie on this one. Don Pedro Island to long point is doable. Looking for a Maverick 21 Master angler maybe I can tow one back home :)

We have stayed at the Florida Beach Motel twice...nothing fancy just a place to lay your head...Sharon and Mel are in the same frame of mind.

Most likely I will anchor out the boat in front of Carla's and then stay at the motel. May do the same as you and stay an extra day.

Gee wiz, How many boat are going to be anchored off of site 77? She's going to have to hire a part time Dock Master just to keep things straightened out!

I understand the unpublished Port Carla (site 77) transient rates for mooring SeaCrafts, are as follows -
Trackers : $1.50 per foot
Potters : $1.00 per foot
Moesly's : Priceless

DonV 11-22-2013 10:57 PM

You forgot "Slackers" in Port Carla.....$25 per foot, plus loads and loads of Beef Wellington per person in attendance!

It's a special category!! :)

Don, There is much more that I don't know about these gathering than I do know. For instance -
1) Who is the Official Community Organizer for this event? Is there actually a Potentate / Mayor / Best Man / Squadron Commander or Den Mother officially in charge?
2) What about the Zoning Regulations? Are the Baptists going to be camped right next to the Episcopalians? Does Port Carla have 50 amp services available and a DEP licensed pump out station?
3) Why doesn't Brevard County publish any information on their locations of their artificial reefs? Are they afraid the Norwegian fishing trawlers are lurking just over the horizon?
4) Why are people from WPB infatuated with the wheel? Is it because of the Pratt and Whitney facility? Their trailers have 4 tires and 27 more wheels....! What's with that?
You can see, I am already troubled by many things regarding going to this "Land of the Hanging Chads" (or was the Broward Co.) - anyway, it's a long time until May for me to "stew about stuff". I need to go find my Tums!

I believe Spark Plugs work prefect for a "Controlled Detonation" even if they are firing on the Starboard hand bank.

Maybe one day we have SeaCraft Island.
Slacker likes the fire pit of 95 and the mini beach. Thanks to Jesse for the help on the torsion axles. Planet Janet cant lift those on her back.

Slacker finally has a tight trailer.
Let`s take the entire point.

Yum

Terry England 11-24-2013 05:40 PM

OK, very good. "No Bones" Ken is the Grand Pooh Bah for this adventure. As the "Cuerno Verde" I will do my best to keep my questions to a minimum. Thank you Gofastsandman.

Oh, Just one for now - Will Ken's tent be the one with the red carpet leading between the two bronze statues of Neptune, various flags and pennants festooned from the towering peaks and the plastic flamingos in the front yard? I just need to know where I should bow, when passing.

OK, One more - If we bring Hogfish Ceviche' for Friday night but I sneak down south and I spear the Hogfish due west of Conner's Sarasota home, without telling him - but he still likes it and has three helpings, does that mean the Ying and Yang are still in balance in the Universe? Or is this something the Grand Pooh Bah would have to rule on?

cdavisdb 11-24-2013 06:40 PM

Allowable only if I don't know where you got the hogs.

Connor

1 The Pooh Bah has a furry hat with horns. The Den Mother has a red boat and a racer. The Squadron Leader has a SeaFari. Mayor McCheese lives in Stuart.

2 Many zoning regs. Slacker is across the tracks. Pump out station on premises.
We only subscribe to the golden rule.

3 Fishing trawlers, trolls, and long liners are not welcome. Eagles can trawl...

4 UF wants to reinvent the wheel. Just did as well. Chad hung himself at Gun Club.
Funny name for a jail if you ask me. PBC.

Yums, er Tums wont help. The only cure is water. Lots of it.

You`ll fit right in.

Cheers,

Professor Snookerd,
When you say "on your side" are you refering to -
1) the State of Florida or
2) the Issues at hand...?

I do appreciate everyone trying to get me up to speed on this Camp-O-Ree. Ms. Marsha and I look forward to meeting all the SCS "Punta Longusta" participants. I keep tell'in her "you have to go out and create some NEW "good old times" or your kids will get bored with your stories".
I do know if Conner runs with 'ya, you got to be good people.
