DonV 01-13-2014 05:28 PM

I've spent some quality time at and from that boat ramp!!! Is that you snoozing in the cabin? :)

Snookerd 01-13-2014 06:24 PM

George-It's a tough life!
Don-Kingfish ramp is a busy place during mullet season! One of my finest moments last year at that ramp was when I was helping as a volunteer to do boat inspections and the floating dock gang plank collapsed and threw a few of us in the drink! That's Corbin in the cabin catching up on his beauty sleep!

Mikem8560 01-13-2014 07:50 PM

that looks well kept! only thing better is if it was at my house lol

supposed to get cold this weekend

DonV 01-13-2014 07:59 PM

"That's Corbin in the cabin catching up on his beauty sleep!"

Jeeeez.......from what I've seen you might think about the "beauty sleep" option more often!!! :) :P Rest assured, I've tried it with no luck!!!

Mike-When that Sceptre is buttoned up, it is quite a difference in temp.. I can imagine the Northern Brethren extending their season with this setup.

Ainsley is growing up!

Snookerd 01-14-2014 08:36 AM

Oh yea....Corbin's friend and knowledgable boater/fisherman - Duncan. 2 teenagers that are very helpful at the ramp. They sure eat and drank a lot though!

Terry-
You must have seen me at the Ruskin drive-in Sat night! Lol

DonV 02-03-2014 11:13 AM

The boat looks real nice Danny!! How's the new engine running??

I had one back in 1995, was on my new 23' Hydra-Sport, it was the 225 Evinrude Ocean Pro model, great engine had no problems with it except there are no gas stations out in the open water.....and with that engine you needed ALL the gas you could find!!! :)

Snookerd 02-03-2014 01:20 PM

Don –
The motor is running great! I put 25 gallons in yesterday, according to GPS I went about 22-23 miles. My fuel sending unit must have a bad ground because I'm not getting a good reading on the gauge..... I am wondering what kind of mileage I'm getting. I was thinking best case at around 3500 to 4000 RPM I would be getting close to 2 mpg. 15x15 prop may lower it?!

DonV 02-03-2014 05:37 PM

Super, happy to hear it's running good!!! Look forward to the LP gathering and seeing all the work you have done. As far as fuel mileage, the best thing I ever installed on my boat was a cheapie Northstar F-210 flow meter. Six or seven years ago you could get them for less than $200, and if you shopped on eBay sometimes $100, however for some reason they quit making them. If I had known they we going to discontinue them I would have bought every one I could get my hands on!!!!! Two for spares and the rest for friends. They do the two simple things I really care about....fuel flow in GPH and total which you can reset to zero when you want. Seeya soon.

I have the Northstar too and love it. Navico quit making the Northstar, but still makes an effective economy model under the Lowrance EP-60R badge. Its about $170. I believe it has been a better product for most.

Danny, Don't be fooled by the perceived theory of pitch. Performance wise, it is a theoretical number. Too many variables for consistent proof. I improved all performance figures dropping from a 17p to a 15p on my Seafari. Gave me more blade area, less cup, is easier to turn and gives more stern lift. Fuel economy was improved at cruise and near top end and got on plane and stayed there at much slower speeds.

DonV 02-04-2014 09:02 PM

Thanks Gillie, I'll keep an eye out and see if I can find a Raymarine/Lowrance adapter. After 8 or 9 years my cheapie Northstar works perfect, sooooo I'm hoping I don't have to worry about it. :)

Snookerd 02-04-2014 09:16 PM

Thanks for the comments Gillie! The torque is incredible!

Snookerd 02-04-2014 09:57 PM

Don-it looks like I need a Garmin fuel flow meter (GFS 10) to plug into my gps map 530. I have to verify if I need the cannet adapter.

Boatboy6 02-04-2014 10:18 PM

I'm curious to hear what you get for numbers, I have the same motor on my cc and have no clue what I'm burning (I try not to think about it because I know I'll come close to tears...)

In the 60's you say, Im glad someone is able to enjoy fisning and boating in Feburary.I keep asking my self why I stay up north.. 4" of snow on monday, another 10 to 15" tonight into wednesday, and a noreaster on sunday into monday, that could dump another 12 to 18" if it hits us right. The older I get the more I hate winter.

Snookerd, I like the looks of the box seat and cushion on the port side. I'd like to do something similar on my tsunami.Do you like it?, any thoughts, pros or cons would be helpful.

Snookerd 02-05-2014 07:47 AM

Big-
I like the box seat. It's simple, seats 2, it's not in the way, and currently I have a kicker motor stored inside it (4.5 Johnson).

fdheld34 02-05-2014 02:54 PM

Lookin Good Danny...
Oh...how do you store the kicker in your box?

Fred-throw cushion under the foot and an old outdoor seat cushion under the powerhead.
