Anchor locker on Sceptre
 

I need to make a new one. Can I remove this as one piece? It doesn't look like it. I just want trace it out and reinstall it. It's just falling out at the moment and fishing season is 3 weeks away. I still have a lot to do!!

You can make a new one fairly easily. I did mine from teak-veneered marine plywood (3/4" if I remember correctly). I recommend using the old one as a template. The hard part is getting the old one out and the new one in in one piece. To do this, I removed the hull- to-deck joint fasteners back to approx. amidships in order to raise the foredeck enough (approx. 2-3", I used a bottle jack with some 2x4 stock to raise it just enough). I thoroughly coated the new bulkhead with epoxy on the edges and sides facing the anchor locker and used Epifanes rubbed-effect varnish on the teak veneer facing the cabin. Good luck and please post pictures of the project.

Holy crap that's a lot if work. Maybe I'll find a way to put 2 pieces in there.

I'm with Water Rat on this one. I don't think you can remove the anchor locker faux Teak bulkhead in one piece without removing or significantly jacking up the fore cap. It is wedged in there good. If you find a way to get it out and back in without the PITA procedure, I'm sure other would be interested in you method.

Of course you could take a 10# sledge hammer and get it out!!

It's cold and icy here now. Rare weather for SC. It pretty much fell out so removal was real easy. All I did today was program #'s into the gps. I'll resume this weekend as the temp goes back into the 70's.

Holy Cow, Did somebody run that Sceptre into a bridge piling? I don't think you could do that kind of liner damage with a sledge hammer!

No shit, I saw all those cracks and thought it might of been your old boat. I remember yours was cracked on the nose just like that one. I said what are the chances of that thoe. Purity good I guess....

Never did this but how about this idea ?

Remove the old one with some sawzall finesse. Use old one as a template on marine plywood. Cut that new one in half vertically. Install the two halfs and use (2) pcs of spacer wood with a small angle to it. Drive one pc of the spacer in upwards and the other pc downward to squeeze the two halfs in place. Then, use two pcs of scrap wood with epoxy along the back seam. Let kick. Remove (2) pcs of angled spacer wood. Cut exact spacers needed. Dry-fit, then epoxy in place.

Laminate, paint, carpet or fair and alwgrip etc ?

Might be a lesser evil then lifting the cap.

That's what I was going to do. I'll just glue some smooth FRP on it and it's done.
