I actually knew the original owner in Islamorada. It's a sweet boat.
Is 400 ponies really necessary on these boats or is it just a Florida thing were you sometimes see 200 hp motors on 18' skiffs? I saw many 23' Jones Brothers on Harkers Island with single 150 hp on the transom and although they obviously don't have g force power, I spoke to a couple of owners and they were satisfied and claim the power was both sufficient and efficient.
Some folks just like the speed and some folks fish so far offshore that the speed is really useful .
A 23 doesn't need 400 hp, but it does need more than a Jones Brothers. Lots of them out there with 225s, even some 200s, but that is getting a bit light for the hull design. |
Some of us down here in FLA do a lot of running and gunning for fishing. Its gotta be a blast to drive. Bahamas is also 50-60 miles due East. Boat was rated for this kind of power but the truth is, I have a single 200 HPDI and pushes my 23' cc nicely.
Damn birds and weedlines...... |
Looks like a well loved vessel. Good luck with the sale.

Price reduced to $17,900

So, I spoke with Ken last night and not one call on this boat from CSC. I wanted to make sure the people on CSC saw this because one of us should have this boat. Someone please make him an offer before I buy a 2nd 23' and a divorce!
Any thoughts? |
As I mentioned earlier I know the owners, they used to run this boat to the Bahamas and back on a regular basis, however age catches up to all of us. IMHO the original price was kinda high. No T-top, no electronics, 16 year old engines and surprisingly a boat who's home was Islamorada no rigging for trolling. Hopefully the price drop gets some attention!! I know it's not been used hardly at all in four or five years, just parked in the garage.
Agreed Don. Boat has not been used in years. Someone should make them an offer but a lot of guys up North are looking for snow plows, not boats like us Florida boys!
Would he consider selling just the hull?
Maybe, give Ken a call.
Price reduced to $16,500 obo.
Ken may consider selling the hull only. Give him a call to discuss. |
What r your performance numbers with them motors.. Thanks martin
Dude that is a steal and a half
Martin, Ken knows all the details. I would assume the boat runs about 60 or better. If I had not bought my 1977 23' 6 months ago this would be mine.
I was out on this ROCKET today what a ride! Very nice running boat, solid as a rock
I just ran this rocket over to the Bahamas, very nice ride!
The 23 will be staying in the Bahamas and fishing hard! She has been sold!!
I guess the market for these fine old classics has gone south. I can't believe this boat sold for less than half what it should have? No interest from any forum members??
Well how fast does it run all trimmed out WOT ?

The market for that boat is not kind to older power. my guess.....5500 motors, 1500 trailer, 5k for the hull....12,000. What did it sell for ??
FYI - Boat sold for $9700.
