Is fuel fill hose foamed in? Leaking tank...
Perfect timing. Fuel leak. 89 20sf.
Anyone got a quick pic of the fill line routing through the gunwhale and stringer? Nooooo. |

I'll get a photo in a bit, my tank is still out and it's an '89 as well.
Rod My fill hose was not foamed in and ran in the channel with the vent hose. There was however a pretty severe kink in it where it had to pass under the the liner floor corner. Made it a beetch to get out, pulled mine out with my tractor:o. Will try to find the id plate, tucked it away for safe keeping:rolleyes:. Rod |

You can see the hose on the one picture and the slot that was cut in the stringer from the factory that it laid in, in the second. The foam in the slot was fully around the hose. 1974 so your may be different. Looks like they just cut a chunk out of the stringer and let it lay in the slot, not glass under it or to seal the hole off so the foam don't get wet in the stringer either. There were also other foam fill holes you can see as well that were never sealed.

True. Always take care not to hurt yer hose. If it breaks yer screwed.

Thanks for the pics Dead Ho. Just off the phone with Cayman Pumpkin. I had thought it may be the fill hose, but had no thoughts of how to isolate that. So in the spirit of CSC, I will pass this along. Plug the vent fitting on the tank. Fill the tank all the way up the fill hose to the threads for the cap. Open beer and watch. If level drops fast, it may just be a bad fill hose. May. Of course when the wire in the hose starts to corrode, the hose explodes. Mine looks ruff by the tank. Both are 25 yrs old. |
Dude, just replace the tank and hoses, then drink beer for the next 25 years without having to worry. :)
|
But be careful, alcohol can wreak havoc with yer hose. :D

Here`s the plan.
|
It was not the tank. An OMC water separator with a pinhole in the housing. That would explain why I could not pump the fuel out. Dodged a bullet there. Brian had an old one
laying around. Not mint but good. Knock Knock, GFS |
And you thought you were going to get to play with the hoes, Oh sorry I mean the "Hose"

Not so fast sandman..., I put some water in the bilge yesterday morning. As I lifted the in deck livewell hatch just now, there it was. An 8" circle of premix directly under the rear of the coffin box. I cut out the livewell 7 years ago for bilge access and to plumb the one under my LP. Well the good news is I can take my time and do this right. Good thing I left my smokes in the house this week. Cheers, notsohappysandman |
