LOL that was a good deal. Glad to see someone from the site get her. 5 years ago I would have shined his shoes if he asked me to. That boat looks to be in excellent shape. The sceptre's are big too but the 25 is a real beast. The 23 Sceptre actually has a little more deck space then the 25. What you need a 23 for in Idaho? :) I used to chase deer up on the middle fork of the Salmon river back in the day. An airplane and a rubber raft was all we needed back then. Or 2 days on horse back :)

I fish the Columbia all the time as well as Oregon Coast offshore for tuna. I am tired of getting every tooth in my head rattled and knocked out from the 22' Tinnie i am use to running. I made the mistake of running 30mph in my tinnie in 3 footers and this Fricken Seacraft Sceptre passed me on the columbia like i was walking... The guy was flying... At the ramp I talked him into giving me a ride and I was instantly Hooked. The ride is unreal... So now I have a 20' and 25' Seafari... and I am hell bent on a 23' Tsunami as I think that is the Perfect boat for what We do.. plus I want to be able to canvas her up and sleep on it during Whitetail Season In late November on Dworshak Resevoir... Where u at in Cali? |
Good luck on your sale

Hi GameOn, welcome to CSC.
Very nice 25. I've never seen one with a two tone hull. Is that paint or original gel coat? You might want to rethink the 25 vs 23 decision. The 25 looks huge on a trailer because it is so deep (tall). I've had the chance to see a 21, 23 and 25 lined up and in the water. There is surprisingly little difference in the size of the boats. I think the 23 actually has a bit more internal volume than the 25. The 25's hull isn't more than 200 lbs heavier. If you use the cabin for anything other than storage, the 25 is way ahead. Given your use, steep chop in the Columbia an big swells plus wind chop offshore, the 25 has a much better ride and might be a better boat. Not to knock the 23; as you know, it rides great. But the 25, because it is so sharp, is in another class. Of course, ride may not be the most important thing, the Septre's bowling ally cockpit is unbeatable for fishing or tank diving. And, you pay for the 25s ride with higher fuel costs, a lot higher if you load it heavy. The 25 is also more tippy than the 23, although not near so bad as many deep Vs. The 25 is also a "drivers boat". You have to pay attention to get the best out of the hull. Balance is more important than in a lot of boats. The dividends of attention are huge. All in all, for me, the ability to run straight into and through 3-4 foot Gulf Stream wind chop, reasonably comfortably on a long run, at 20 knots, sitting down, is priceless. Connor |

That is the original Gel Coat, two tone sky blue and white. I am posting a picture of a wet sanded and buffed section in my add. I really appreciate that you took the time to post up on this for me. The water where we fish is super cold for sure and that led me too the 25 in the first place. Having a cabin I can just sleep in on the sceptre is enough while having that bowling alley cockpit is priceless. I am one of those knuckle heads who cannot stand to see stuff on the floor of the boat and I need space. I climbed in and out and spent hours in the 25' trying to make a decision. After a ton of deliberation I decided that a Small cabin with a Massive cockpit was more important than an over sized cabin with smaller deck. I can't imagine that the ride is much differnet between the 23' vs 25' in over all conditions. I think running 20 knots into a 3' head wind chop on the columbia river should be easy with the 23', I could be totally wrong. Either way, I Hope a CSC member get their hands on this hull, IMHO it is in near mint condition and shows it. This is not a Rehabber but rather a Wet sand, Buff and Repower with a Few Minor things to go with it. Thanks again for all your Input Connor I really Appreciate it. Regards, Robert Quote:

Reasonable decision, good reasoning, and the 23 does ride great. I can't fault, but, for sure, you are underestimating the difference in ride. On a long trip, the difference in how you feel is huge.
The day Sandman was in a 25, I was running along side. Forecast was 4-6 and I thought it was accurate. It was ugly and confused. I had my tabs up, running mostly straight into it at just under 20 knots and the boat was occasionally jumping almost out of the water but landing with no bang. Put the tabs down, slow down to 17 - 18 knots and I could have run to Bimini ( 60 miles), mostly sitting down. I'm way too old to try that in a 23. Connor |
Welcome. You should take Connor's words to heart. He knows of what he speaks. The 25 Seafari is magic in the hands of a good helmsman.

Just thought of another. I was out with Moose in his Septre on a truly nasty day in the Gulf, blowing like stink, short vicious chop that got up to 5 ft or so. Moose has his boat dialed in just perfect. We were running for part of that into about 3-4 at around 16 knots. I was standing up by the steering station and it was handleable. Not comfy, but ok. Faster would not have been good. Sitting down that far forward in the boat was out of the question. Seated in the rear would have been fine if there had not been so much water flying. Comparing hulls, I'm confident the 25 would have run through the same conditions 2-3 knots faster and with the driver sitting down.

Hey GameOn,
Welcome to the land of troubled kool-aid drinkers:D. Nice get. At least you had some open road on this tow:D. Bummer you might not use her. Could've saved me some trouble by towing her 500 miles south instead of north, but how could you have known? Just put her in a barn and I'll give you a holler next time I get up near there. Just for future reference - so I don't again spend hours practicing my finest Spanish swordsmanship with the grace of Zorro and the intellect of Inigo Montoya - how does one remove an acre + of those pesky ruski thistles without breaking for a cold Pacifico and a roll of gauze:eek:? Oh yeah, what are you asking for that Seafari? Cheers, McG |

Your SeaCraft transfer exploits are climbing the ladder. Once you drop that 25 off in San Diego you will rival the SeaCraft transit leaders:D.
Congrats on the new rig. That full canvas will be a real pleasure up there in your seasonal chills. Post some pics of the new rig when you can. Cheers, McG |
