Thank you! To all the SC guru's on this site I could not nor would I have ever dared to do this alone. It was your technical know how and detailed builds shared here on CSC that gave me the inspiration and dedication to make this happen. I have attached a couple images. I'll post the full restoration some time soon after the fishing season ends.
For now here are the basics: 1970 20 SC Potter Hull (Ice Blue/Matterhorn White) 200 HP Evinrude Ficht Coast Weise Marine Custom OB Bracket Surf Marine (glass work, wiring, rigging, paint,) NORTHSTAR 6100 FURUNO 582 Seastar steeringAttachment 7825 Attachment 7826 |
Very nice!! More pics/details are always welcome.

Old Old Old
Capt Mako, A 1970! That boat is very, very old.
It probably has "Fibergalss Fatugue". Think about it, in Dog Years it's 287. It's so old Coast Guard Auxiliary will want you to always leave one line tied to the dock! It's stink'in PERFECT! |
Man that's nice, love the color.........I have a 1970 sf also..
Joe R. 20ft Classic SeaCraft Susie II |
I saw the boat at Plymouth harbor yesterday,it looks flawless!

Update

Well as we all know nothing lasts forever.... That being said i had a slight problem with my Ficht 200. Long story short. The Piston in the # 3 cylinder got water intrusion through the water jacket and there is a dime size hole in the top of it. So...I broke down and put the motor I originally specked this boat for when I began the project..Attached is the final result and completed project with updated pictures. I'll post a full specs list and performance #'S with the new power soon. I will share this with the CSC crew. It is still a 40+ Kt boat with the 140 suzuki 4 stroke. And judging by the early fuel burn #'S at 25 Kt cruise it's not going to make the oil companies happy.
|
Very nice re-power and as far as "it's not going to make the oil companies happy", too bad! Great looking kids, you are breaking them in right!! :)

Whew....
I was scared to look further down on the pics after the fourth little one showed-up.... Thought maybe you would have a pic with 5 lil' ones :D Fine looking family and mighty fine 20 SeaCraft... Hint hint, you may need a 23 real soon.. ;) |
Nice looking rig and good choice on one of the lighter 4-strokes where weight is critical with a bracket!
". . . The Piston in the # 3 cylinder got water intrusion through the water jacket and there is a dime size hole in the top of it. . . . " This comment got my attention, as a hole in a piston is often the result of detonation, which you can't hear on a 2-stroke since there are no valves to rattle! Detonation/pre-ignition can often happen with hot-burning lean mixtures, which could be caused by either a plugged jet/injector or a restriction in the fuel supply. Did anyone check the No. 3 injector on old motor? Something like a stuck anti-siphon valve at the fuel tank could cause a similar problem on the new motor! Hopefully the dealer installed new 3/8" fuel lines and T'd a vacuum gauge into the line between boat fuel filter and motor to measure fuel restriction. A vacuum reading no higher than about 4" Hg @ WOT is probably ok, but might be worth checking to see if Suzuki has a spec for that! |

Thanks for all the comments. Like I said before much of the credit on this build should be given to this community and it's extremely talented individuals who have posted and shared thier ideas. The pictures and step by step tutorials really made this happen for me. Upon completing this project I stood back and realized it's missing one thing....It needs to proudly display the CSC 1970 Potter Hull Logo on the stern. I remember seeing them for sale here but for some reason I can't find them. Any help would be appreciated..

which prop are you running 14x20? I am gonna try to run a 14x22 labbed powertech to see what I can get out of her.

This is my favorite boat! I hope mine turns out half as nice. What is the setback on that bracket?
|
I can't recall. I want to say 30 " not 100 % though. I'll measure it next time I'm at my shop and post. I still have the template too. We have a welding shop next door, they can knock one out in a day if you are looking for one.
