Town with the most Seacrafts

Is it me or is Chatham the Seacraft mecca? I love visiting there simply because I know I am going to see a ton of old faithfuls! It all starts with whoever it is (prob on here) that has 2 in his driveway on the left heading into town, not to mention a 3rd beauty with a serious pilot house. Tons of 20s throughout the mooring grounds...makes me want to move there! On another note, and maybe this has been done, but it would be fun to start a thread of seacraft photos spotted while you are out and about. I always have my eyes peeled!

Old'sCool 08-08-2014 04:43 AM

I think there is a spotted thread under pics.

I haven't been to FLA for a long time and never spent much time looking around for Secrafts there, but I do know Chatham and that would be my first guess. A trained eye can hardly miss seeing at least one on every errand they might venture out to do! The rip out at the end of Monomoy was made for Seacrafts!

YeA 20sF 08-08-2014 09:14 AM

I dunno but in Miami and the Keys where I usually am at I see them all the time. New and old barley see the same one twice.

Bigshrimpin 08-08-2014 09:39 AM

Commercial Bass days east of chatham 2009 - 2013 you could count 20 - 30 different seacrafts fishing on any given day. Ptown always had a dozen or so. The 23 is essentially the standard issue commercial bass boat. It doesn't hurt that you can fit 500 - 550lbs into the front fish box either.

Flying Frizzles backyard!! Should qualify....

Chatham has a lot. Stage Harbor Marine was a top dealer of Mr Potter's boats. Nowhere near what was being sold in FLA back in the day. At least that's how I understand it.

Got to love a Town with more registered boats than residents ;)

Yup, that would be "kerneltugboat".

bobr338 08-10-2014 10:23 PM

I have a bad habit of driving nearly off the road when i spot the familiar lines. Seacraft addiction is more dangerous than texting.

BigLew 08-12-2014 01:03 PM

I took an opportunity to drive through Chatham yesterday. I passed KernelTugboat's place and even stopped to introduce myself. Two Seacrafts in his drive way! Then I continued my drive down to 28 and turned left. Along route 28 I counted at least three more in driveways or parking lots. I drove through town and up to Chatham Light-no SeaCrafts seen. I then swung down through Stage Harbor and stopped to get out and take a brake -(I had driven from Newburyport, MA, about 130 miles.) While at Stage Harbor I saw at least six! I then drove out of town taking a completely different route and saw at least three more, either in driveways or on trailers going someplace.

That would put it that more than 10 in less than an hour in a town that has a winter population of less than 10,000. I would say that's quite a few Seacrafts for one town! I was on my way to South Yarmouth and believe I saw a couple more. Not a bad total in an hoour and twemty five minutes!

Sceptre20 08-17-2014 02:07 PM

Mine is in the Oyster river in Chatham,if you checked all of the harbors you could easily find at least 40 in Chatham, and thats in the water, many more on trailers!

Not to dig up an old thread, but spotted this 23 from MA this afternoon
while heading south down I-95 30 miles north of Daytona..

I tried to call the cell number on the back, it went to voice mail.
Also beeped and waved, thinking he would see the SeaCraft decal
on my back window.. :)

Boat name "Out Cast"

Nice looking rig.

I live in a small town- township there are 3 Potters and one Tracker within 1/4 of a mile .expand that to 3 mile circle and there are a total of 12 that I know of. most are up for the winter in driveways ,and are docked local in summer....the original dealer for the area was Capt Andy in Margate NJ..he sold 20 & 23 Potters right around 1970.I had a 20 69-70 vintage ..yellow & red hulls were popular here or that is what the dealer had.

Carribean is the graveyard of the Makos and Cape/south coast is the graveyard of the SeaCrafts.

Blackfin26 01-14-2017 11:03 AM

If Cape Cod were a state it would have to be #1. Live in Brewster and have a 26 that I run and an 18 for a future project. Always 5 or 10 other Seacrafts fishing within sight on busy days.

CaptMick 01-15-2017 09:31 AM

Seven off the top of my Head on Hilton Head. One MIA 23 Sceptre that I am aware of too just can't lay eyes on it.

John3325 01-16-2017 09:31 AM

There's two others I am aware of in the Quincy River, and a few more in each yacht club at least in Quincy/Hingham/Boston Harbor (Massachusetts). I would have to agree with TPG, the other half of my boating is down out of Orleans Cape Cod and it is ridiculous how many other Sea Crafts are around.

bgreene 01-16-2017 08:34 PM

Moscow, Russia......... Kremlin can't get enough Seacrafts.

Ed 01-17-2017 09:03 AM

One one that I know of here in York, Maine.

90% of the boats in the harbor are downeaster's and for good reason (sip fuel and keep you out of the cold). However, I like to go faster than 15 knots.

Snookerd 01-17-2017 01:49 PM

Have you guys seen the prices for used SC's lately. Top of the market for sure. We are spoiled in FLA, but I always appreciate the guys in Hawaii with the 25 Seafaris.

I concur

I live in Key West and I know of seven in my dry storage spot and many more around key west and on the near islands. There is also a 2000 23' CC with dual engines in nice condition for sale right down the road from me for 39k. pricey for sure.

uncleboo 01-19-2017 08:09 AM

Five here in Edenton. My 18, 2 running 20's, one in bad shape and a 23 cc whose owner I don't know.

Fr. Frank 01-20-2017 06:05 PM

I know of 9 Classic SeaCrafts in the area surrounding Choctawhatchee Bay here in Okaloossa and Walton counties in the Panhandle of Florida, plus a LOT of newer Tracker SeaCrafts from the late 90's to late '00s.
As for classics, everything from a 18' CC, a 19' Bowrider I/O, two each 20 SF & 20' Seafari, two 23' SF, and a 23' Savage I/B.

Used to be a 27' center console/cuddy with twin I/B in Destin, but it left a few years ago. I was told it was sold and the new owner lives in the Marco Island area.

Still doesn't compare with Gold Coast of Florida (Stuart to Homestead), where I swear there must be hundreds...

(And before anyone gets on me about Stuart being part of the "Treasure Coast", the "Treasure Coast" didn't even get the popular name until the late 1960's. It was part of the Gold Coast when I was a boy, so as far as I'm concerned, it still is)
