Back on the Water

It's been a while since I've posted or even viewed the site. Bigshrimpin said that he thought I was "cured" I guess not. Sold the 25 Seafari a few months ago to a nice couple from the Ventura area. I just was not using it at all and it's not good to let a boat sit. I had not been out on my little 20 Sceptre since March. The best time to be on the water in the delta is in the Fall so I wanted to to do a few things to the boat before Prime time. Put down new non skid...this time went with brown instead of white. Also added a Power Pole Blade. What a handy little addition. Makes beaching a breeze!
Lisa and I took up a new hobby... Metal detecting. We are finding it very enjoyable. The best part is that the 20 Sceptre is a great tool for getting us to those hard to reach places only accessible by boat. We recently went to one of those places called Ski Beach and she out did me by finding two rings! All I came up with was bottle caps and a few coins. Ski Beach is one of those nice family oriented places to go. See Video Below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KH5_6hCmk_4 It wasn't quite like that when we were there. A few pictures. strick |
Stick,
Lord knows that's good to hear from you! I am happy things seem to be well. I have been "walking a mile" in your shoes. Not a fun trip. Anyway, you've got to step up you game with the metal detector. After all, they only stay until they figure they can WIN! Be well, my friend! |
I've found a few goodies with my detector also. I usually hit the beaches during the winter where the summer tourists have rented.

Totally not seacraft related, but what is a good detector to start with?
Something I always wanted to play around with, but didnt know where to start. Also don't want to blow a big amount of money on something that I may not really get into. Here on the Cape there are tons of beaches to poke around on (Not the National Seashore though. Big No No.) |
Hey whats up buddy...almost every picture has a Sierra Nevada bottle in it?:D
Show more pictures on the power pole... |
Chucky . . . Time to figure out how to outfit an openROV with a metal detector (or a speargun). Give me a shout . . . glad to see you out on the water and back on the board.

Strick, Cant even imagine the grin on the smart folks that bought your 25. Perfect boat for crossing the Santa B channel
to the Channel Islands. Cheers! And good to see you back in the saddle. Hope yer kids werent in that viddy:eek: |
Thanks fellas for the kind words.
Terry- I cant post any photos of the power pole in the up position :) Gill- the guy that bought the 25 is a bill fisherman and frequents the channel islands. He may turn up on this site as he knows about it. BigLew- I've been finding some real goodies lately including a platinum ring 11.8 grams and some real old coins. Old'sCool- Find any cool rings? Pics? Frizz- the 20 sceptre is a great little boat for cruising and fishing. Perfect for what we like to do. Yours is coming along nicely! Erebus- Garrett AT Pro would be a good one to start out with. Shrimp- Package will go out next week Big Daddy Chuck- You got some serious style...I'm not saying if I find that baby. strick |
Looking good!
Glad to see you are well. I'd imagine I will be out that way next year. :) |
erebus - I have a Fisher and have it rigged to carry the battery pack on a waist belt. That part gets heavy after a while of swinging it back and forth when mounted on the unit.
Mostly junk. One of two decent rings pictured. I don't want to know what the spoons are used for :) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...psd4126ff8.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps0ffc879e.jpg |
Does Lisa like the power pole?
