Creating list of 27' Seacraft owners - need your help
Hi everyone-
I am trying to compile a list of as many 27 Seacrafts as possible. Below is the list I could come up with. Feel free to make additions or corrections, particularly on boat names and current owners and locations: No Bones: 19?? 27' Seamaster, Todds Lures: 1986 27' Tournament, Central Florida Ed: 1986 27' Tournament (formerly CuddySark), Maine FlyingFrizzle: 1968 27' Racing hull Kernel Tugboat: 1969 27' Custom Diesel Pilothouse, Cape Cod, MA Brett: 1967 27' Seamaster (formerly Sea Mistress & ?) CHDunagin: 1986 27' CHarrisonFish: 1986 27' Wmarthur: 1967 27' Flybridge Milfly: 19?? 27' Wondering where Fin Fighter is? Is this now owned by Joe F. on the Cape? How about the old Raw Bar? Or the new owner of the 1986 27' hull that was on craigslist - had a hailing port from Tarpon Springs, FL. Thanks, Ed |

Metan marine had one in their back lot a few months ago

Ed,
Jeff McAnally, a good friend on mine, bought a 27' Seamaster NEW from Frank Brown in 1967 and cruised it all over the Bahamas for many years! Unfortunately he's not computer literate so is not on the forum, but he's extremely knowledgeable about the 27 and is a real gearhead and performance-minded guy, so can provide good advice on any inboard or I/O engine and performance issues. I did manage to get him on the phone with Brian (3rd Day) to discuss engine performance the one time I stopped by Brian's place on one of my trips down the St. Johns river. Jeff went through 3 different engines before he was satisfied with it, finally ending up with a 454 and MerCruiser II outdrive. He discovered a special low-rise Corvette intake manifold which reduced engine height enough that he was able to eliminate the engine box and have a flush deck over the engine! He said the only thing better than the 454 was TWO of 'em, so he finally bought a 28' Bertram with a pair of 454's in it that was a 50 mph rig! Bertram had never built one with those engines and refused to sell him one so equipped because they said it would screw up the boat's CG. Jeff said, "Fine, just sell me the boat minus engines, and I'll install 454's with aluminum heads, which weigh the same as a small block!" I can provide Jeff's contact info to anyone that sends me a PM. Denny |
There is another one for sale in Stuart.

Hello Ed,
I bet you can't wait for spring. Did you ever get to run the boat? You can Add one more 27 to the list, that would be the Old Fin Fighter. It is a 1986 Factory Center Console and will soon be powered with a Single 300 E-tec. It is owned by Captain Joe Fitzback. in Chatham, Ma (He has the Motor) All we have to do is re-do the fuel tanks and hoses, a little bulkhead work and it will be ready to go this spring. I am not sure what the name will be, I will let you know. |

My 27 is a 1968 #215
There is also Seahoss27 (Freddie) that has the 1987 27 that he has been working on since he bought it... Attachment 9213 |
Ed,
That reminds me, mine is Hull #221, which makes sense if Ken's 68 is #215. I read somewhere (Probably here) that back in the day, the year assigned was when they registered the boat, not when they built it. not that that really means anything except it may be older than we think. That's fine as long as it lasts another 30-40 years. |

Bleu Bayou (aka sea mistress) is back on the water! It took a few months for me to rebuild the transom but I finally got her out for about 20 miles this weekend. I'll post some pics of the transom build next week.

There's still one near me waiting for an owner. It's in a lot in Hernando fl. Quite a project but it's in decent shape. I've considered getting it and making a big Tsunami out of it but I'm too lazy and I'm not rich enough for Todds.

"Lazy" - Ken, you and Mel are kinda' busy keeping the power grid up and running in all of north-central Florida. "not Rich" - If you count your wealth in friends, you got more capital than George Soros! Just get that cook shack squared away over at Sportsman's Lodge and you'll stay our "hero". |
Amen brother Terry!!!! :)

Here's a couple more pics of 27's . . . First one is in Juno Beach area, across the street from a friend that bought a 27 Seamaster new in 1967! He ordered it without an engine or gas tank and installed the engine himself with a custom 150 gallon fuel tank to make it a good Bahamas cruiser. He blew up 2 engines (a 350 and 400 cube small blocks) before finally settling on a 454/Mercruiser II drive turning a 21" diameter prop that he claimed was relatively efficient.

I am in the process of sanding the bottom and barrier coating spots under stands and blocks that previous yard never did. I also need to barrier coat the bracket and then paint the entire bottom.
Engines are disassembled. Sent out injectors to be tested and cleaned. All new filters, plugs, water pumps, seals, etc. going back in. I also need to pump out the fuel tanks as the fuel smells very old. Old boot stripe is off. I have begun my two step buffing process (3M High gloss gelcoat compound followed by 3M imperial) - but it takes forever. If time allows, I am going to sand, paint & prime the cowlings and pans. Then, I will run the boat for the entire season and see what I need to add to the list for next winter. Oh yeah - I am in the process of making a cabin door too. The old one was made out of lauan or something similar and is falling apart. Ed |

In the last two weeks, my boat building buddy in Thunderbolt, GA, (Sav), listed a 66/2015 Bertram 20 (Bahia Mar?) named Sun Chaser with a guy here in my neighborhood in Bluffton, SC. The listing website is Imalwaysinhotwater. Anyway, yesterday I was watching a YouTube video of the SeaVette running, and the Don't Worry showed up for sale on imalwaysinhotwater, on the sidebar of YouTube!?! Now my question is where is it? Weird. Vezo, Part II |

He should move to Vero and prospect underwater and up the beach. Recent large find there. The tide ebbs and flows. I don't miss Finny`s visuals. He had a great sense of humor. |
