Seamaster 27 Flybridge Rebuild with twin Etec

3 Attachment(s)
Hi Everyone,
I just picked up a pair of 2006 Etec 250 for the Seamaster. Stole them- $10,500 Props, 3 Icommand Gauges, dual binnacle, oil tanks, and dual Seastar hydraulic rams.
Having a twin engine flotation bracket with platform built, as well as a fold down tower for the bridge, and a custom trailer.
Should be on the water in 4-5 Weeks.
It's been a couple years but I wanted to do this right!!!!!

I almost bought the pictured boat last week.

Looking to do almost identical of what is in the pics-Except i will have etec instead of hpdi and my top will be swept back, and a shorter beefier bow rail to accentuate the lines that the great Mr Moesly designed her with. I like the simple black and white, which i will duplicate.

Brian, sounds like a great setup! I'd suggest mounting the motors at the center of the center panels to get cleanest water. Also make sure you find a good dealer to prime the oil systems and test the boat fuel system for air leaks and flow restriction. Also best to set them up for XD-100 oil and prop them up per these recommendations.

That boat looks great, except motors are too close together!;)You can also mount them higher if mounted farther apart to reduce draft! If you rig them like Don Herman does (He sells kits, which run the rigging down into flotation tank and then thru transom;see pic below) it'll leave a much cleaner swim platform! If I were to redo that installation, I'd move the rigging a little further aft on platform to provide even more space from transom. I was trying to keep the tubes close to access hatches but a couple inches further aft would not have made much difference.

Would be interesting to see a performance comparison between your boat and the one you almost bought! That Owners web site I posted the link to has tons of info on those motors so it's worth checking out!

You and I think alike, except you are much more intelligent!!!
My Moesly 21 was done clean as you describe, rigging was done through the platform, even my bilge pumped through there, I had a one way duck bill valve on it, was high on the bucket, just under the swim platform.

Nice score on the Etecs.

Do you still have the old bracket?

I do have a twin engine flotation bracket without the swim platform, which fits into the transom pocket for sale on CL for $850

Good find on the motors, Cant wait to see some pictures of the hull once you get it rigged. Sounds like it will be nice.

Im guessing the other 27' hull you put pictures up with the yammies is in FL? It is nice looking too. You always find the rare ones, Seems you got a nack for finding the old Moesly hulls...

Sandy the bracket is aluminum.
I only look for the Moesly hulls.

Guess I need to start a wants thread.

Are you going to LP?

I spend a lot of time searching Moesly hulls but I never seem to find many.

Hey Brian...not that I need another boat...but I sure do like the 27 pictured. Where is that one located?

Looks like a fantastic boat. Any ideas how thick the transom is to adequately support the bracket and twins? I'm in the middle of replacing the transom on a 27' and can only get 1.5" of marine ply between the inside of the skin and the stringers. I could add additional thickness above the stringers (where the bracket bolts) or add some additional sheets and just template it around the stringers another inch or so if needed. Not too many 27' with a bracket to find advice.

Most people cut the stringers back a bit then tab them back in once the ply is in place.

The boat is located north of Tampa. I inspected it and went for a ride. Very close to purchasing it, but the etecs poped up , which is what I wanted and rare to find a used pair.
The Fella who owns it also owns a 23. I looked atthe boat before he owned it, it was up in Deltona florida, had a chance to purchase it for $15K but passed.
The fella who owns it now has spent a tremendous amount of money on it, 6K into the motors, re cored the gunnels, topside, etc.
Sorry for the late response stupid busy making $$.
