Just got my new Garmin 7610xsv installed and did a shakedown run Sunday afternoon.
Below are some pics of my helm and screen shots from the new unit. Along with the MFD I added a Garmin fuel management module, XHD 18 raydome and the SideVu, DownVu, traditional Chirp ducer. |

Shaa-zaaam, That's a sweet set of environmental datum!
Fish don't stand a chance -- hell they didn't stand a chance before... |
Sweet systems man!! Moose, where do you run your boat? Just curious how far you have taken the boat to fish?
I live in Central Florida and fish East / West coast almost every weekend. I run to the Bahamas several times a summer and am throwing around the idea of diving the middle grounds when grouper season opens in july. From Tarpon Springs the first of the reef is about 85 miles. Based on my previous trips to the Bahamas I have the fuel economy to make the trip but may have to bring a few extra gallons in case the weather picks up unexpectedly. I know its a stretch but I was curious if you had made any trips like that. Riley |

This old sled has been to the Grounds a time or two dozen with the last owner. Here is a pic of her when she was powered by a less efficient two-smoker.
Believe it or not I don't make too many trips beyond 50-60 nautical. I'm blessed with some pretty good stuff inside of the grounds and if I want to go to the Grounds I hitch a ride on my friends commercial sled. Grounds are a long way to go for a couple of grouper..... especially when there are plenty of the same before you get there. |
nice electronics! even nicer fish!

I`m such a dinosaur. I`d rather have the v8.

Nice electronics! Love to up grade mine one day. |
"Even with a 140 gallon tank we still had to bring a dozen gas cans on a grounds trip. I don't think you could pour fuel over the side faster than it could burn it"
That's funny Ken, well not if you are the one paying to put gas in the tank. I think that OMC V-8 was the only outboard that needed a 1/2" fuel line, and that was borderline at 4500+ rpms. :) I knew an old OMC dealer who put two of those V-8s on a 29' Aquasport (around 1985). Lasted about two months and a trip or two to the middle grounds before he sold them, did not have enough fuel capacity....not even close. |
Those are some great fish. I have a few spots inside 30 miles but they just do not compare. I want some of those 20+lb hogs!!

Woohoo! 2 feet or less tomorrow! Heading out way offshore with my new bag of tricks!

Awesome day on the water with my Dad! The new Garmin toys were amazing and really are a big enhancement to my fishing array. Caught fish until our arms were too sore to reel and Dad landed a 31lb Amberjack on his inshore baitcaster. Lots of fun and no shortage of fish. Below are some screen shots of the new unit and dad with some jacks and a small king fish he took on his bass rod.
The last pic is a capture from my mask cam I took on the only dive I made. No shortage of gags on this drop.... It's going to be a good season when it opens up! |

Reef Donkeys

I count a Bakers Dozen including the "toad" hanging beyond the two AJ's that are passing each other - and eight Reef Donkeys. Sharpen up the Bubba Blade for LP, Bro' |
That screen shot of the chirp image at 90.2' is so much more effective as a marketing tool than the usual demo mode stuff the company and marketing folk put up, lol. Impressive!
|
I was really impressed myself as all of the images come from just one transducer. I know the investment on the unit itself is pretty scary but the flexibility of what this unit does with only one ducer is a game changer for those who want it all in one unit. And trust me..... it does it all.
