Need A Boat ID'd
I saw this boat while bass fishing the other day in the ocean - and I want to know what make model it is. I figured you guys might know better than most.

looks almost like a dyer29, but it's hard to tell from that image.

Close, but I don't think it's a Dyer.

Thx guys. I'm pissed I didn't run over and ask the guy… I don't 'think' it's any of the boats suggested all good choices. The boat I saw does not seem to have any port lights. It has an aluminum windshield frame and seems longer than 26 or 28' ? Although it could be a resto. Thinking of the size of the guy in her and thinking of me in my 23' Tsunami, it seems, well.. a lot bigger.
I've seen lots of boats, but this one.. well.. it was like love at first sight ! |
It does look bigger than 26. If the bow came out of the water a foot or two it would really help.
|
Could be a Brendan 28 except the cockpit looks longer on that boat.

Cabo?
|
This has been bugging the crap out of me as I know I've seen this boat before. Think I may have found it; tel me what you think.

Close...I don't see any port windows? On the one above.

looks like a Ray Hunt or Jarvis Newman
|
I'm closing in on it. It seems it's not a production boat but that 12 or so were made ( at least my source says ). I think I found out where the boat is docked and am waiting to get there to check for a make or leave the owner a note.
As an aside, during my online search, I found a really cool blog of a guy who built a kitty hawk 18 -- http://www.buildaboatwithben.com Lots of work but nice results… WATER RAT - I think that is it ! I think the one I saw is a 26… I'll post when I find out. |
Yep, I'm going with Agua Raton on this one.

Newer Hunt 25 or 28?
|
If it was a Hunt it would look more "bath tubby" up front with a bunch of Vee under the chine like a Bertram 25, a 26 Grady White or a Gladding-Hearn Pilot Boat. I think it's some kinda' North Carolina modified New England Lobster Boat like a North Coast.
Where the heck is Bill Potter when you need him? |
I'm also with Senor Raton on it being a Pilot; Notice how the chine crosses the bootstripe forward in abl's pic - it does the same and at the same location on the Pilot thread on THT. Same distinctive shape on windshield too. The biggest diff I see is in the missing portholes but most Seacrafts on this site have been modified far more than that.;)

sure looks like a dyer bow and stern... and spray rails..but does it have enough teak?
