20 SF with Suzuki 140 (Edit)
I'm thinking on re powering this spring and I'm curios if anyone is running this setup. Gonna go brand new or close to it I hope. Current engine is a Yamaha 115 two stroke. I get roughly 2 miles a gallon with WOT around 5500 at 35 or so knots. Cruise is 4000 at 23-24 kts. Thanks for any insight on the Suzukis

I don't have that set up but I am a firm believer in Suzuki motors. Every suzuki in my fleet this summer except for two had zero... yes zero full days of downtime. The two were motors that I knew needed to be replaced and had the replacement in the shop. Both of them had between 3000 and 4000 hours of hard commercial use. I have 140's (same block as the 115) through 250's. I can get about 4 years or so at 700 to 900 hours per year out of them and only about 2000 hours out of a yamaha.

Hey Captain Mick, heard you sold the 18 and picked up a 23! How is?
|
Thanks Mick. That is reassuring.
|
Vezo- the 18 isn't out of the barn yet but very close. And I think it will stay close so I can try to get it back when my kids are older for them. The 23 is great. Ill get up with you after summer is over.

In case you want a local Etec 115. I don't know for sure, but it looks like a decent price to me? $8995 and new from a marina?

Interesting. I'll check it out. Thanks

Well pulled the trigger on a brand new 2015 Suzuki 140. I couldn't pass up the deal so it should be here in a week or so.
|
Congrats . . . You'll love that engine.
Did you get it from Atlantic? |
Nope, international marine in FL

Shipping to the Cape, or are you picking it up somehow? Been thinking about a suzuki 90 for my 18SF. I think Ryders Cove in Chatham has a leftover Suzuki 115 on the floor. At least they used to... |
Pm sent Zac

You will be happy with that motor.
And if you're thinking about a prop, may I suggest a Solas Amita 4 blade 13.75X19. |

Okay I went with the 140. Interested in seeing some numbers as far as cruise speed and WOT with your prop. Also interested in fuel burn numbers if anyone has them. Thank you
|
csicknick runs a 140 on his seafari, strick runs a 140 on his 20 sceptre, and Trayder ran a 140 on his 20.
There are numbers posted if I remember correctly. |
Here's my non-scientific numbers.:p (Please don't hold me to them and note they are nautical miles)
Prop- Solas Amita 4 13.75X19 aluminum Cruise about 22 kts @ 4200 rpm, 4.5nm/gal Max 35 kts @ 6200 rpm, fuel burn unknown:rolleyes: Great hole shot:D |
Got the engine hung. Just need to do a few things before she gets wet.

So today I finished the first 3 hours operating below 4k RPM. I had 3/4 tank of fuel and when I'm using the boat in the summer I usually carry about 100 lbs of ice. Today no ice for the test. I'm turning a 14X18 Suzuki prop and when I went open it up to WOT I easily exceeded 6000 RPMs. I very briefly saw 6500 and feel there was more throttle to go. I'm thinking a 14X20 prop may be the ticket. Does that sound about right? It's a 2015 Suzuki 140. Thanks

I wouldn't go with more than a 19 if you are staying with the Suzuki Stainless prop
