Overnighter #12

I finished up most of the restore on my sled this spring. The interior needs attention, but it's usable including the 5 gallon bucket for the admiral.
After a lot of deliberation and a good price I went with a 135 HO E-tec, mounted on a Hermco Bracket. The fuel tank is new, battery is forward of the tank and I "embellished" the bow with a Good Automatic Windlass and anchor roller with 12" Bennett tabs in the rear. The boat was painted with Signature Finish, Matterhorn White topsides and Whisper Gray on the hull. The motor was installed in May and thats when the real fun began. After a lot of head scratching we went with a Viper 15 X 14p prop and believe it or not is mounted on the third hole up from the bottom. Here's a few shots inside and out. To me the lines on these boats are a work of art and always get second looks and lots of comments. Thank you Mr. Moesly and Mr. Potter. John |
NICE woodwork John! Looks like the paint came out nice too! How did you like the Signature paint?

Love this boat, post some pictures of the cabin too when you get a chance
|
very nice!

I missed the finished product glad it was pushed back to the top so i could see !! Great work!!!! with all the etecs being hung on these old seacrafts you would think they would have a dealer working deals on them for us ...
|
It would at least make for good advertising, " whether your boat is a new boat or a 30 year old seacraft, E-tec is the motor for you!"
|
Thanks for the compliments. Just about ready to take the wraps off. I'll take some shots of inside the cabin, but I haven't really put the finishing touches on that yet. Had too much fun last season just using it after the long rebuild.
Getting excited to get her splashed for the season. |

Thanks Strick. I’ll be the first to admit that I followed your restore threads as guidance on this guy. Couldn’t have, or wouldn’t have without this site.
It seems I enjoy this boat more and more every year. Here are a couple recent pics. Happy Holidays! |

It amazes me how many compliments I get on her, every season. Especially from guys that know boats. The guy that installed and rigged the etec calls it a little Maserati. He likes to put it into a tight turn at full throttle. She maintains stability like no other. He test rides boats for living. I just smile. |
Ok now I remember Potters Sons boat. Thanks for jogging my memory. My little 20 sceptre is such a nice little family boat it has a full enclosure Bimini should we need it and a nice windshield if you want to hear what someone is saying next to you. If you want the wind just stand up and drive. I imagine the Overnighter is the same.

Yes it is the same. I put bean bags up in the cabin and my granddaughters love to hang there when underway. We live in the northeast and it can get chilly on the water. So having the full windscreen is very nice. I had an 18’ cc Parker before this and you just can’t get out of the wind.
Strick, thought I saw you post something about a spectra project, hows that coming along? So tempted to get a 23, but the 20 does what I need it to, it’s easy to manage and economical to run. Do you ever stop wanting just a little bit bigger? |
Getting over biggerboatitas can really happen. My 25 is going to be too big for me in a few years. I'll be looking for somebody who wants to switch a Seafari 20 for mine.
|
Yep I started the 23 sceptre but then came to my senses. I really don't have a need for the bigger boat with what I do. I bought it on a whim because it was a deal. On the topic of big vs small all I can say is having went from big to small then back to big and again moving back to small.... I prefer small :)

Thanks for sharing that piece of wisdom.
