no longer a classic
well after 27 years I just sold my 1970 Potter, 20 cc.... I was thinking of repowering, new transom, update electronics etc etc, but I am not getting younger ,So I just settled on a 1998 21 with a new 2015 200 Optimax, already updated from new electronics , Tee top . etc etc
I will miss the classic Potter bragging rights , but staying in the SeaCraft family Joe R. 21 SeaCraft Susie II |
Condolences.......but it did't happen without pictures

Maybe we need a new designation for the "New" classics? I'm running an '09 26 master angler. Looks like SeaCrafts have not been produced since late 2008 and I don't think there's much hope of them returning :(

Not as long as Tracker has the copyright and molds. You will not see any of the other boats Tracker made, like Kenner, when they bought the companies in the early 2000 time frame. After the 2006 - 2008 financial disaster looks like Tracker (Bass Pro Shops) consolidated the popular hulls/boats to a single name they thought would sell and everyone knew, like Mako.
As far as "Maybe we need a new designation for the "New" classics", I don't think that's gonna happen on CSC...... |
Well, I will still organize the Atlantic City gathering next summer, we had all vintage SeaCrafts show up last year , We have a few more weeks on the Bass here ,then its going to be a long winter looking at the new boat covered up....

I thought there was only ONE Slacker!!! Or to be said in another way, I know only one person proud to have the title "Slacker" and I never figured he would give up his well earned title!!! Plus "SlacakerSeaCraft.com" does not have the same ring to it as CSC.com does! :)

If I had a brain, I would dress her up and spin around the corner... My other side says this is the best engine you will ever see. Slackers are not always smart. |

Ryan, We can't be droppin' our standards just because Joe folds up like a cheap card table and takes the easy route with Cash! This site is about Cabosil, Lay-up schedules, Coring, transom laminates, Vinlyester, Gelcoat, grinding discs, MEK, Epoxy and Thru-hulls and important stuff like that. Joe's got nutt'in to do but study his windshield gromits to see if they're tarnished!! You can't buy your way into a Gucci Award! (Well, without "cubic dollars") I don't know what this world is coming to. By the powers vested in me as "Chief Troublemaker", I deem that henceforth Joe shall be referred to as Slacker II and he must "mold his life" after Slacker I (Fat man in the bathtub "GFS")! Shoulda' done the transom, Bro' |

Today
I thought this out for some time and had money set aside to repower my 1970 Potter 20, then in order to repower I would also want to do the following just to get some updating'
redo the transom and raise 5in blast the 15 years of bottom paint off new battery and move fwd new wiring up date 20 yo electronics put on new 150 Etec doing it myself ,,,,getting to old for that, I loved my Potter and owned her for 28 years ,nice sexy and fun to ride boat....Put her up for sale and sold in hours BUT now I have a boat a little bigger, and updated for less money..and it has a name on the side that says SeaCraft..lol Bought it from a guy who re powerd it this spring and could not use it due to job and his dad being ill...the Optimax has 5 hours on it w/5 year warenty ...also brand new Lorance E7gps .Sound system Bluetooth, VHF,,Compass, Led lights ,all redone covers on tee top and leaning post ALL NEW AND REDONE....after adding it up the the newer boat cost me less than redoing my old Potter and was the best move for me..I know this site is here to give insite on ideas, rebuilds, history etc ....but my SeaCraft would not be here if it was not for Carl ,, Its good to know the history and background of my 17 year old hull Joe R. 21 SeaCraft Susie II |
I really like the newer 21' CC. I think it a whole lot more boat than your older 20 and you will be very happy with the move. Your new 21' is like a shortened 23' Potter. Your all good!
|
When you say Seacraft...like when you say Corvette...No explanation and the year is secondary!
|
new 21
How would you compare size, ride, and performance of the 21 to your old 20? Even though it is just a foot, the newer 21s look like a good bit more boat. Of course Trader's 21 is a whole other beast
