1972 20' Seacraft 2' chop video
http://youtu.be/raRRFZMeOjM
I took this today in Buzzards Bay when the wind kicked up. Wind was 15 knots out of the NE and I think the tide was running against the wind. Flat calm in the morning though. 140 Suzuki 4 stroke. 21 knots with no tabs The morning started off a lot nicer http://i1326.photobucket.com/albums/...psb07qjv0o.jpg |
Cutting like a knife! Sweet!
|
Beautiful.
|
Nice! Bridging the gap in a 20!
|
I should have used tabs then I wouldn't have spilled my beer
|
Handling it like a champ
|
Nice, man! I love my 20! What was the air temp?
Part II |
Nice!
Looks like the anchor locker was open and the anchor chain hanging out and it didn't move. Can't wait to see how my 18' runs. |
Yup anchor locker and chain was out as I was moving from spot to spot looking for tautog. More impressive was the 6 mpg I was getting at 21 knots.
|
Do you have performance numbers throughout the range?
I'm considering a DF140, but may want more power, considering all the modifications/weight I've added. |
Nope but I can get them. Let me know what you want and I can get it for sure next week

Fuel at idle to 1000 rpm.
Top end speed. Mostly interested in fuel and speed at slow and fast cruise, say 3600-4500 rpms. I'm concerned that I have to raise the rpms to get a 30 mph cruise. My F115 Yamaha, on my 18' SeaHunt, needs 4500 rpm to get 24-27 knots; my usual offshore trip is about 80 miles/day, so I want to be able to run. Also I tend to run loaded, with lots of fuel, ice, gear, and sometimes fish. Thanks, Dave. |

No togs. Water was still cold. 46. The GoPro was minted on my VHF antenna

Nice video, these boats are just the best!
|
I love it !!
Anchor chain did not even MOVE... Nor did the hatch flop shut ! :D |
No chop today but I opened her up a little and tweaked the trim and watched the fuel economy in disbelief. 4800 RPM 26 knots and 5.5 mpg.

Nice. From what I've seen, not much video around showing ride characteristics of original 21' ........23's.........and older 25's in real chop..... 3' + waves.
Your boat zipping right across on plane, steady ride. I find most V - deeper V rigs of 20'-23' run fine in 1', and 2' chop. The pounding really starts with 3' tight chop.......and true 4' chop is where the differences REALLY show. I run a Wellcraft V21.......very average ride bow into a 3' chop, BUT with the trim tabs, I can run on plane into tight waves with a real nice ride, using the cutting edge of bow and flare to run easily, and actually passing other boats in the same size that either don't have tabs or don't know how to best trim engine in, and tabs down. SeaCraft having some legendary hulls, it would be great to see more video's in choppy seas ! Thanks for posting. |
True but remember, not everyone really knows what a 2,3, or 4 foot sea really is. There are plenty of legends out there of 20' boats running in 4 footers at 20 knots. I don't think there's any 20' boats that can run in 4' seas even with tabs and say it's a good ride. They just don't know what a 4' sea looks like.

Absolutely beautiful!
