Transaction ID 2LU17528VA4824223

Description: Rare 1978 SeaCraft 23ft Seavette. 1 of only 11 1978 Potter Built Seavettes with inboard/outboard engines. Powered by a 502 HP ZZ 502 engine with Mercruiser TRS outdrive. Top speed 67 mph, cruises at 42. This classic has few cosmetic updates needed and runs perfectly. Road worthy trailer included. SOLD

Reason for selling: My wife said it’s time to turn in the “sports car” for a “minivan.”

Check out this sweet ride: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjuwWZG37ZQ

BOAT DETAILS: The boat was professionally restored by Wildfire Marine in Stuart, FL and was put back in service in 2007. Additional upgrades have been added since then.

EXTERIOR: The 2007 professional restoration featured the boat being painted with PPG Concept Lemon Ice, the installation of a Bajo style swim platform, a new rub rail, various hardware updates (hinges, latches, etc.), and the addition of the custom SeaCraft emblems made along with the black boot stripes. The top cap was re cored and the anchor locker was fabricated behind the bow light. A previous owner replaced the transom with synthetic materials and Kevlar.

ENGINE and PERFORMANCE: 2007 restoration increased performance with 12X16 Bennett sport trim tabs. However, in 2008 a Brand new Chevy ZZ502 engine with fresh water cooling system made by San Juan Engineering was installed. Top speed 67 mph, cruises at 42mph! Engine upgrades from 2008 include: Stainless Marine exhaust manifolds, Edelbrock EDL-61459 Marine Aluminum Heads (with Inconel exhaust valves and anodized coating), MSD 6AL-2 multi spark ignition box, MSD blaster 2 coil, Edelbrock air-gap intake manifold, Holley 800CFM double pumper carb, Weiand aluminum water pump, Crane gold roller rockers, Thunderbolt IV distributor, GM mini starter, Gaffrig controls along with new control cables, Jabsco bronze raw water pump, the gimbal housing was replaced with a remanufactured unit from Dollar Performance, and a new, Bravo style tilt/trim unit was installed. In 2013, Mayfair external hydraulic steering was added and in January 2015 the TRS outdrive was freshened up. The boat comes with TWO PROPS: A Bravo I four blade propeller that was purchased new in 2009 from Bblades as well as a Mirage Plus three blade prop.

ELECTRONICS and WIRING: Kinetik intelligent power supply/charger KIPS 12-45 (45 AMPS), VHF radio, 2 batteries, Kenwood Stereo/MP3 player (wired for speakers) with US Amps MD 42 4 channel amp. Ready for your own GPS. In 2007, roughly 99 percent of the boat was rewired with the marine tinned wire from bestboatwire.com. In addition two new Rule 2000 bilge pumps on two automatic float switches, hoses, and a new bilge blower were installed.

COCK PIT: Boasts high gunnels, newly upholstered bolsters, engine cover and Todd caption chairs. 2007 restoration included: replacement of deck, engine box narrowed, the fabrication of storage hatches on both sides of engine box and bolster pad backing board replaced with PVC board.

CABIN: Clean, original cushions, could use new headliner and paint.

TRAILER: Black painted aluminum Hitch Hiker Road Boss. Possibly original to boat. Very road worthy. October 2013: replaced springs, axles, hubs and updated to aluminum diamond plate fenders. February 2017: Bunks freshly re-carpeted.

Sweet! You'll miss that...a lot!

TomParis 04-21-2016 10:43 PM

beautiful boat

kmoose 04-22-2016 07:37 AM

I hope someone here takes this on. Mel and I talked about the day when this would happen but ended up taking on another build recently and are too far down the road on it.

Good luck with the sale Dave. It should go pretty quick to the right person.

DonV 04-22-2016 08:45 AM

Dang Dave, hate to see it go! I know GFS is probably crying right now!! Good luck!!

dave3fl 04-22-2016 09:28 AM

Thanks guys, I hope we can keep her "in the family"

uncleboo 04-22-2016 10:06 AM

Would love to hear that bibo2! (I remember you mentioning that your daughter/son let the cat out of the bag when you bought it!)

Oh man sweet...

77SceptreOB 04-23-2016 12:00 AM

What is the top speed? Mid sixties I would guess?

dave3fl 04-23-2016 07:28 PM

Good guess, 65 on the 4 blade. I can get a few more mph out of it with the 3 blade but it's not as good all around.

McGillicuddy 04-23-2016 08:56 PM

Good luck with the sale, Dave. Someone is going to score. I remember one of the guys one of the guys on here, a wind turbine exec, moved from SD to the Houston area...he was looking for a Seavette - can't remember his nickname. Good to see you re-posted that viddy of your 60mph dash out to Egmont Key...or maybe that will scare some prospects:cool:

keyskid 04-29-2016 03:02 PM

Awesome boat and what a steal. You could pay five times as much for a "newer" boat and it would probably pound your fillings out. Good luck with your sale. There is going to be a lucky new owner out there.

toddtree 07-13-2016 09:10 PM

Is it still available?

Mark Hauptner of Ocean Master fame raced with Carl from Haulover to KW w trip merc 110s in `67.
He said the cut was a washing machine mess and many dropped out or were damaged badly.
They lost an engine around Summerland and took 1st OB class at an average of 62 mph.

Mark said 2 props fell off when they put her on the trailer.
He said the bronze ears were trashed from the beating they took coming out the
cut in Haulover. One was missing an entire ear. Probably the one that went south.

I imagine my twin 150 OP`s on the Armstrong bracket will beat those numbers.
Have to section 4 inches per side to tuck her inside the racer`s skinny ass.
Bill and his elves at general sheet metal will be doing the welding.

Great shop around the corner. His dad did the abyc for the CG when aluminum tanks
came along in the early 60`s.

I have slowly been collecting pieces/parts for #31.
I shop well, but the bitch Irma took 4 g`s outta my pocket and I am not done yet...
At least the giant ficus tree didn't put big holes in neighbor granny`s roof.

Cheers,
Us

If I lived on the water I would without question buy it. I have often thought how well a surface drive would run on this hull.
