71 or 70 1/2?
Do I see air under the skinnies? I was a 2 wheel junkie and that was money. 4 wheels is a whole other strata. |
70 1/2 is my guess. HS bud had an original that was very nice. Nice car Frizz! Any engine pics?

1971, Purchased the car about 20 years ago for $1200. It was a dead stock factory car with a mild 350. The car has seen a lot of changes over the years. Several different motors, the torch and plasma cutter and a few different colors. Me and my dad did all the work ourselves minus the machine work to the block. It has came a long ways. Started driving it down the track at 14. I sold my four-wheeler to buy it after spending several weekends at the track watching. Hope to keep it and pass down to my son as he is into racing as well. He is only 12 and we have started building him one already too.

Nice, very nice . I spent every weekend racing my 62 Chevy 409 at connecticut valley dragway When i was a kid.
Did it just for fun and it was a daily driver.mild cam, some headwork, headers, etc got me into the low to mid twelves on occasion. Man oh man frizz do you live on five hour energy drink or shoot up B12 and caffeine? I don't know how you do it, boat restos, drag racing, boat collections, Do you ever sleep? |
Too Many Spark Plugs
Hey Frizzle-
From your posts & your photos it appears you violate the engineering adage from where Bushwacker & I worked years ago. "Never own more than 32 spark plugs total on cars, boats, lawnmower, etc. or you will spend more time fixing than using!" Haha Course that was before platinum plugs and cars needed points, plugs & condenser every 12-15k miles. |
What is the et and mph ?
|
I aint no xpert but second pic makes me think you might need a four blade stern lifter to keep the pointy end down:D
might even improve tracking... |

600 pound bath tub, Chevy 350 pushing 385 horses, without a transmission. Quite the rush! That is a pic of my brother in full race trim and obviously not leading. But she's spinning about 7000 revs when out of the water!!!

Lightweight and big engines, what could go wrong?

We have a hydroplane tour come through town every year and I never check them out until this year. What sucked me in were Jersey Speed Skiffs like Vezo's posted. Unfortunately I missed them. I believe they were just scheduled to do a few demo laps to start the day. I love simple, lightweight with big V8's. Thankfully this is in the same thread where Frizzle's comments continues to remind me to keep it simple. I already have a mustang in hibernation that at one time was going to be an 1/8 mile demon.

Never meant to hijack a thread, just agreeing that we all have too many toys!
IslandTrader, the three foot models scaled down, with weed wackier motors are to scale and perform as do the full rides!!! SSPBill, that's the ticket! Light and simple. Best of luck with your drag car! I was only putting on a demo, first time on a course, my brother riding mechanic, and I winged out. Saved it without sending him over my shoulder and into the drink. Never stalled but I quit early and I think that I was smoking two cigarettes when he got back out on the course. Alone! Vezo, Part II |
