Spotted a 21 today!

Ok so I'm driving north today on the fl turnpike, minding my own business when the dummy to my left starts drifting into my lane. I bang on my horn, he swerves back into his lane and thankfully that's it.
I look in front of me and see a the hull bottom that we all drool/ dream about on a trailer with a bracketed Yamaha, clean white bottom with a bluish green hull and say holy shit that's a 21! Excited too see the rare hull I start looking for my phone and just as I reach for my camera he gets off at the us 27 exit in Hialeah.

Driver was an older gentleman in a white pathfinder. Anyone know who this might be?

flyingfrizzle 01-10-2017 10:49 AM

I wonder if it may of been this one in the post linked below?

http://www.classicseacraft.com/commu...t=26809&page=3

I would of had to cross traffic and stalk him like a crazy loon and hope he stopped at a gas station so I could ask about it. And see if it might be for sale accurse!

Ryan 01-10-2017 10:51 AM

thats him. Damn i would have flagged him down but he was to far over for me to get off the ramp

NoBones 01-10-2017 04:39 PM

When OP saw him in 2014 he was at 441 and Riverland ramp in Ft. Lauderdale.....

Ryan I would bet he uses that ramp, time to stalk the area or hide a
game camera in the bushes...

Someday he will chime in here, they all do eventually.. ;)

I'd ask Gofast how Comfortable that 21 is. He has slept in Carlas' every time he is in the Keys........

The holy grail of boats !!! Good Grief Charlie Brown !!!

TomParis 01-10-2017 07:36 PM

well in 2014 he had a Johnson on it, and you saw it with a Yamaha, so he has upgraded his motor and painted it!

Very comfortable.
Much better than picnic tables.
The picnic table was jealous.

DonV 01-10-2017 07:41 PM

I'm thinking Skip and Carla's 21 is a five star resort versus his next favorite lodging .....Long Point picnic table!! :)

Well Tom, you could second guess Ryan a bit as a key witness, but you have to understand some of the psychological turmoil that occurs when you happen across a 21 in person while yer being run off the road:eek:.

Gray motor, bracket, greenish blue, nissan color becomes irrelevant.

Flush him out dixie dawgs...real curious how she does with the lil johnson/yammie

bgreene 01-11-2017 05:50 PM

Original CM 21 '........if rebuilt........I'd say 250-300 hp etec g2 would be a nice fit.
High cruising speed, and really fly when flat !!

Ok, ok........even G1 Etec 200 HO, Merc Opti, Yami fine.

"Well Gillie, they did race them with twin 55 Homelite 4 strokers.

Hummmm.....this is like who was the worst U.S. President ever, I can narrow it down to two rather quickly. Anyway Sandy those Homelite motahs were worse than a Force?? If so, that's pretty pathetic. :)

McGillicuddy 01-12-2017 01:41 PM

Good point about the little hp twins, Sandy. But this guy (see link) was ahead of his time preaching clean air in no. CA keeping Lake Shasta n Lake Tahoe perty and free of 2 smoke emoluments, err, emissions. A fella can still wake up and smell the pine up there, or maybe the medicinal skunkweed, anyway:D:cool: Love to send this guy a picture of a Moesly with twin or triple Homelite Bearcats on it. Pretty heavy motors for 55hp.

Kinda like what Merc did with force...er Chrysler...
Another gem of a motah.
The old Chryslers were the worst sounding smokers ever.

I was thinking about the Homelite Bearcat engines and remembered the Johnson-Kirby Seacraft 21 had a pair.

I cant remember if Carla or Big Shrimpin or someone else posted this, but does anyone have a bigger better image of this photo:

Really curious as to how she does w a 175 on the bracket...looks like he's worked over the transom and bottom.
Did you talk to the owner?

Ryan 02-18-2017 11:49 PM

That's the one. Did you talk to the owner?

wattaway2 02-18-2017 11:55 PM

Yes spoke to him for a lil bit he's owned the boat for a long time originally it had twin I/O's in it he has redone the bottom and transom and wanted to use a bracket got a deal on the 175 to test it out and seems to be very pleased with the speed did not get any numbers but like most of us it's a work in progress !
Told him of this site and numerous "sightings" of his boat . Not sure he realize what a Jem in the ruff he has ! Will try and keep in touch with him from time to time

flyingfrizzle 02-20-2017 09:07 AM

Gillie - I don't remember where these came from originally. I think they were posted to this site back in 2006'ish. I think it was from Carla when she got this 21.

Pictures came from Cliff Root. Cliff found CSC.com and posted the boat as a free boat to the first taker. He gave the pictures to the CSC member that saved the boat from the dump. That member gave the photos to Carla and Skip.Cliff and Beverly live on Longboat Key and are members of my power squadron. We are friends. His dad bought the boat from Johnson-Kirby. His dad worked there. Boat sat in Miami in Cliff's yard for 30 yrs. he never fixed it up like he planned.

3rdday 03-16-2017 11:48 AM

Before putting the windshield on the center console and t top on my 1st 21, with SWS 200 it hit 62mph very fast and only a couple feet of the pad was in the water- spooky- my friend who rides PWC @ 80 mph was freaked out!!!
Plenty of power. asking for temptation and trouble with a 300.

Ryan 03-16-2017 02:31 PM

Hey Brian , Where is the boat now?

3rdday 03-17-2017 07:44 AM

My Buddy Steve has the first one I restored. After I traded it for a Moesly 27, that person put the 21 up for sale, we went to Texas nonstop there& back, got her and brought her back she had been neglected a little.
The 27 is being restored , stripping botttom paint, new paint all around, custom bracket, fold down swept back tower, beefy short bow rail, new trailer and two etec 250.
I need to find sources for the interior- was going to do exotic wood veneers but the moisture will kill those.
