Where do you want to go and when do you want to go?

Snookerd 10-02-2017 07:22 PM

No Bones to Big Bones

I can't compete with a pageant!

gofastsandman 10-02-2017 07:52 PM

Oh snap, I love a good mod fight.

It was Miss Scarlet at area 442 with a lead pipe.

uncleboo 10-03-2017 08:50 AM

Northernmost site, please! Gonna try to make the next one.

kmoose 10-03-2017 09:05 AM

Shoot, I didn't see the option for the dive/fishing shootout!

DonV 10-03-2017 09:57 AM

Looks to me like a bunch of illegals were voting in Volusia County!! Not sure we should count those votes!! I know Hillary would, however this is a classy forum! :)

See what happens when you allow wild pigs to vote.

Bring an extra gun or two???

Sportsman`s lodge is perfect for us, but you already know that.
How are their docks?

I went by the dock a couple of days ago. It looked alright. There must be icebergs off the city dock, or what is left of one of the sunk boats next to the ramp.

Pretty good last time I was there. The nice part is the ramp is 200' away.

I'll bring some guns but you better be ready for 130'.

I have 2 alum 80s so down time will be limited.
I`m not nitrox or tri mix certified, but I do love learning.

Let`s talk more.

Get this Party Started!

If we are going to do Sportsman's Lodge I recommend we get this going and lock some rooms down. Opening weekend of Grouper season is usually a good target as the good spots won't be worked over too much. There is also plenty of Maui and wahoo to be trolled up as well. Who over on that side knows when grouper season opens in 18?

DonV 10-20-2017 04:59 PM

I agree!! My opinion is to look just past Mother's Day (we already goofed once on that weekend) which normally puts us past the March/April winds.

bumpdraft 10-20-2017 05:08 PM

I think the room rates go down the first of May. Grouper opens May 1

DonV 10-23-2017 04:46 PM

Some not so good news on the Sportsman's Lodge. Our Sebastian location bird dog Ron (Bumpdraft) tells me the lodge is changing their business model to weekly rentals and we are obviously not interested in that for a CSC gathering. I know it's a long way off, however Ron is going to keep looking for a venue and would anyone else on the east coast do the same.

The wild boar hunt at Area 442 is still an option with a possible visit by Spidercrab and his rather hefty cousin Ella Mae ....... :)

kmoose 10-23-2017 07:26 PM

There is another place a couple of doors down that may accommodate the gathering. I will likely take a week at the Sportsman if available at the same time as I like to take a week off anyway.

DonV 10-23-2017 07:36 PM

Here's the info from Ron on another option in Sebastian.......it's still an option, we are a long way off.

"She asked if I had checked the Ferndale lodge down the street. I went there and roofers were putting on a roof on one of the buildings and a sign at the office read "gone on vacation"

bumpdraft 10-23-2017 09:08 PM

Third place I went today was capt'n butchers. It looks pretty nice, but I forgot to ask if they had an area for gatherings besides the restaurant. They also charge $1/ft per day for dock space, so it may become a little pricey.

NoBones 10-23-2017 09:19 PM

When Sportsman's was booked last year Patti & I stayed at The Ferndale Lodge

No frills for sure, but the price was right! Great mom & pop...
I believe they close down first of May though to go to their mountain home.

Hopefully they will be back in business soon...

gofastsandman 10-24-2017 07:40 PM

I called Bones today and got voicemail...
I said I had a place for our gathering...

He returned my call:
WE ARE NOT GOING TO PEANUT ISLAND AGAIN &$###^ *&%$@#

Not hi how are you Sandy?
Not what do you have in mind?
Not how is your roof...?

I had incoming and said I`ll call back.
The incoming were a young couple restoring a 34` Hatt cruiser.
Just like the one Denny looked at but passed on...
Lotta work ahead for them.

I called back and said the WPB fishin` club does a yearly jaunt much like we do
in Ft. Pierce.

Now these folks are much like we are.
Some have their names on buildings,
and some have their names on work shirts.
Some are even crazy like me.

I went to their site and hit the link.
BINGO.

Dockside Inn Ft. Pierce.
Just in the cut.
Three grills.
Cheap rooms and new docks going in long before our arrival.
More docks than rooms.
Chachacha.

Lea is our contact and is expecting calls.
May 11th and 12th are open!
Straight shot from the gulf and easy for the east coasters.
We get a 15% group discount.
Yes Don, my wallet is also dusty and now very wet...

Jack`s Link.
http://www.docksideinn.com/

The diving is close, deep, shallow, and with little pressure.

NoBones 10-24-2017 08:07 PM

Hello,
Cape Cod calling here.
Done.

NoBones 10-24-2017 09:58 PM

Appears to be plenty of dockage for 37ft Trawler.... "Rip Van Winkle"

Snookerd 10-24-2017 10:27 PM

Denny indicated that the 37 Trawler may be headed north by Sebastian in early April. How about an earlier time if the motel closes in May?

bumpdraft 10-24-2017 10:40 PM

Yeah, friends of mine used to stay there. Not quite the laid back venue of the sportsman, but more options to fish in case of windy weather i think and the dock is in an idle zone. It was on my agenda to check out on my way back from here in Pompano. Dock fee is a little steep, but what the heck. Sounds good to me.

Ugh Danny, me thinks you missed page 3........

Bushwacker 10-25-2017 07:26 AM

May will be a little late for me - most Loopers that start from S. Fl leave in late March early April to get to the Chesapeake by June and Canada by July or early August. Idea is to follow the season for best weather. Generally want to be off the Great Lakes by Labor Day and about halfway to Mobile in the river system by about mid-October, ideal time for a side trip up Tennessee river to Chattanooga and Knoxville! At 7-8 kts, it takes about a year to do this trip right!

DonV 10-25-2017 08:23 AM

Not to worry!! I have new printer cartridges and some special paper on order for my "mac daddy" dead president's printer, I should be fully funded by next May.

Sounds like a great location.

October on the Great Lakes is no problem (20 miles out on 21-October!). Take your time, show off the new tug.

Bill, looks like you and the Restless Lady had another great day on the water Saturday! Tell us more! (Was this the last trip before you put it in mothballs for the winter?!) Denny

jtharmo 10-25-2017 10:30 PM

Yep, we’ve been playing with house money up here. I’ll put some thoughts and comments elsewhere.

I will leave a comment here for the Northern members (i.e. from Jacksonville and up). Don’t be shy about tagging up with these guys. It’s a great group down there. And flights to Orlando are cheap.

I didn't see that info. It looks great! Are we booked in May?? If we were in April, that July Bahamas run with all that new, reliable power (and trusty classic power-GFS, and Jim!)is more do-able. If not in 2018, then 2019 to Grand Cay.....

kmoose 10-26-2017 10:50 AM

Ouch, FP is a long way from all the spearfishing stuff I have been waiting to hit (77 nautical).
Maybe Mel and I can spend the week before in Sebastian killing fish and come down to the gathering for a couple days to make sure there is enough to eat.

kmoose 10-26-2017 11:01 AM

Disregard, Only 35 nautical to the furthest stuff I want to hit so no problem. We will be there for a week if they have rooms.

bumpdraft 10-26-2017 11:43 AM

Ok, so I don't see much negative feedback on this. Getting ready to make the call there.

rcnight 10-26-2017 12:52 PM

Was there a slip fee?

bumpdraft 10-26-2017 12:54 PM

According to their site,its $30

Thanks Ron! Let them know we like to do a fish fry on Saturday night, hopefully this is not an issue. However looking at the pictures they have some covered "picnic" areas we might be able to use.

That sounds like a great idea! 800 miles one way is a lot for me on my own.
