1979. 18. Rebuild.. getting there
2 Attachment(s)
Found my 79 18ft seacraft on Craigslist a few months ago. Completely rotted out floors and transom. 300$ and a few packs of venison hamburger. She was myn. IT LITERALLY HAD A CRACK PIPE LAYING IN THE FLOOR WHEN I PICKED IT UP
So I gutted completely and took it to Bobby gilken @ G-Crafts marine in awendaw sc. I'm not a crafty person so paying to get the restore done . I decided to close the transom and go with a bracket. No if and or butts. BRACKET!!!! that being said I decided to raise the stringers and floor a total of 3 inches. So that self bailing would not be an issue with all composit material through out. Bought a console out of a Carolina skiff that is going to be awesome. Here are some pictures of the restoration in progress. If you have any questions about the build text me or reply to thread. I am not on here often. 843 593 6177 |

That's a well out of an old mako that fits perfect at my transom

Very cool find!!! Good choice with the Coosa. Good luck!!
Bobby did the heavy work on my 23'. I would be a repeat customer for sure.
What power do you have in mind? Can't wait to see the finished product!
115 Yamaha sho. Or the new merc 115 pro xs 4 strokes
Been looking at the specs, specifically the weight of the yammy 115. I've begun de-rigging mine for the transom replacement. Planning on using the coosa. However, my Suzuki is still running great, so, repowering will be down the road, if ever.
Are you thinking of moving the console forward any?
Moving fuel tank forward 24 inches. And batteries under front deck
And yes she is for sale as is or completely rebuilt the choice is yours
No thanks...already have one. ;)
Any updates and pictures on this project ?

As I'm only 10-15 miles from G-Craft, and had Bobby touch-up my keel about 10yrs back, I thought it would be a good excuse for a m/c ride. I hoped maybe to see the boat, as I don't know if it was an "all out rehab, git-r-done", or a "take all the time you need" type of job.
As luck would have it, it was done and gone. I would have loved to see it, but it was not to be. Bobby stays busy, and really couldn't tell me anything about it. He usually has a fair amount of work, and I'm sure they all blend together. Maybe a text or call to the OP to post some pics. ;) |
The contact number he posted in the OP is not in service.
Darn it. I looked in the phone book, and the 3 Mattson #s didn't match the # in the post.
Oh well. |
