Who bought the Carl Moesly/SeaCraft pictures on eBay?
I found 19 SeaCraft promotional and Carl Moesly racing pictures from the 60’s and 70’s on eBay being sold by a guy who worked for CSY. While I was busy haggling(like a jackass) with the seller someone snuck in and bought 4 of the best ones. I figured it might be a CSC member.

that was me! I got the 4. I'll scan them and post some high resolution pictures. For $3.95 buy it now each I couldn't resist.

Score !

Haha. That’s funny. I bought the rest of them but I’ve been kicking myself over those four the last two days. I’d been talking to the seller about them since Monday because I wanted to get a break on the shipping since they each were listed separately. We agreed on a price Tuesday and he told me if I put them all in my cart it would trigger him to invoice me. So I put them in my cart and was waiting on the invoice.

Can't wait to see some of these posted on the board!

You'll recognize a lot of them from the catalogs.

I purchased one of the original photo's of the #31 from a race in 1967, It was about 2 years ago when I did get it or so. Believe it was an actual original photo from a south FL newspaper printer that was used in one of the race articles. Was told it was an original print from 67 and had some writing in pencil on the back noting the race name and date.

Here ya go guys, Carl gets knocked out of the boat, is able to grab the rub rail and pull
himself back in between two running motors! |
Stop it!!! Crazy!
|
Legendary...no question about his manhood after that! I think he got an extra man card that day.

Jeanne was in this race. She came around, saw Carl and stopped. Carl said I`m fine, now keep going. Carl got tossed out of the boat. A portion of the rub rail had come off and the cat was circling. He swam to the boat, grabbed the rail and that is the pic you see. |
Not Carl's first mancard

Does the Hauptner 18' he was building at Ocean Master still out there? It had the "Wick System" to keep the moisture out of the foam stringers. Cool Flats Skiff :) |

Go ask him!!! Haha. |

You already had that bottom picture? Man, they look good in high res. I haven’t even seen mine yet, been away from home at work.
|
Bracker - Bottom one was off the web, but I think it was part of the same series as the top.
|
Bracker - Nice score!! I recognize lots of those pictures from the professional boat builder article. Let me know if you need a place to host the pics. GFS is sending a secret package in the mail. I suspect we'll have some pretty good boat porn in the near future. Thanks for sharing the treasure.

What good is learning if you don't share it. We were talking about trailers well into the night. Young Denny pics there as well. May I caption some of them? |
I always thought #21 & #31 were different boats...
They are 1 in the same... Guess Carl moved the console for COG in different conditions.. Look at the FL registration on the bow.. I remember the State outline stickers back in the day.. |
Where's the Gucci STAMP :D

I still think they are two different hulls, too many other differences when looking them over in different pics. I would think it is possible they are the same, maybe a make over and a few changes to one boat at some point but hard to say. Don't tell any body but I had two different boats with the same NC state numbers / stickers on them. NC changed the cost and year span registrations a few years ago and they sent me a state sticker and then a month latter I got another. Both had the same regs numbers printed on it. I used the second sticker on a little project boat just for a few test trips before reworking it. Ended up getting the correct tittle for it a year latter and then changed the numbers. Just think it is possible he used the same reg numbers on both boats and had only one registration he used on both. Just my thoughts but I have been wrong before. |

Mark Hauptner of Ocean Master was co-driver with Carl in the `67 race from Haulover to Key West. He told me they ran trip Merc 110`s for the first time with the new 25 and they set a new OB record of 62 overall. This after losing an engine around Summerland. He said all 3 props fell off when they pulled her. Mark also said the blades were thrashed. Possibly from the washing machine in Haulover going out. Mark said many boats failed in the cut going out and it was a mess. I always wore #11 in sports when I could and I suspect the racers were no different. Racing puffers as a squid, we always used sail numbers. Cheers, GFS |
