Stoner Boatworks bracket

5 Attachment(s)
Hey guys. Here it is. Not installed yet, but just finished. Josh from Stoner Boatworks just sent me the finished pics of my bracket. It looks amazing and I can't wait to install it. More progress pics to come once I receive it.

DonV 03-29-2018 10:00 PM

Sweeeeet!! I like the dive platform higher up on the tub.

Bigshrimpin 03-29-2018 11:05 PM

Very nice! That looks a lot different than the old hermco bracket. I thought Stoner got the molds from Don.

That bracket looks like it has plenty of room for Trim Tab actuators under the swim platform.

DonV 03-30-2018 09:27 AM

Yes Sir! I asked Josh if the standard Bennett tabs fit without "notching" the platform with his platform being about 3" higher then the Hermco and he said they will...unless there is a very sharp dead rise at the transom, which reduces the vertical clearance out towards the hull . In most cases they have no problem with clearance, Mr. jnamowtiz can let us know. To me the larger "foot print" of the tub against the hull looks much stronger. The higher platform is very similar to the way Armstrong builds their brackets.

jnamowitz 03-30-2018 12:28 PM

I will definitely let you know once I receive it. I’m hoping my math comes out right. I know where my water line was with the IO and trying to figure out the height to mount the bracket is gonna be a bit tricky

Topflitegraphics 03-30-2018 01:20 PM

Very nice! can't wait to see it on the boat

Jetskirider305 04-02-2018 09:03 PM

Love the bracket where is the shop located and their phone #? Thanks

jnamowitz 04-02-2018 09:09 PM

Here you go. Josh is awesome to work with. http://www.stonerboatworks.com/

Decided to replace the transom after finding some wet wood and rot.

DonV 04-09-2018 01:10 PM

As we 40 year old SeaCraft owners know......One thing seems to lead to another!! :)

nate22 04-12-2018 07:47 PM

The bracket looks good. I can't wait to see it mounted on your boat. Good luck with the rebuild, and thanks for keeping us posted.

Lots of progress today. Have the new transom installed and all glassed in. 12” tabbed all the way. All that’s left is the addition of the big angle stringer I’m adding tomorrow. Hoping to have the entire transom finished and painted and the cap re-installed by the end of the weekend. Lots of work ahead still on the hull and deck to come. Hoping to be finished by the end of the month.

Looking good, real good!!! :)

DonV 05-23-2018 12:57 PM

I saw your bracket install on Instagram, very nice, well done!! Looks extremely strong!

Oh yeah, good idea getting your son in on the work....."cheap labor" :)

Here are the finished pics. I am super excited to get the engine mounted next week.

fredbrad 05-23-2018 03:47 PM

It looks wonderful,I think it will work perfect on your seacraft, I have built something similar to the Stoner bracket and only what I need to be sure of the height from the keel to the motor top mount,on mine is 29"(set back is 27" and for a 25"motor shaft),could you please take the measure for me?. I'm hesitating if it would be necessary to cut it an inch and leave it at 28 ", so would the anticavitation plate around 3" above the bottom level of the boat

jnamowitz 05-23-2018 04:02 PM

I mounted mine at 27” up from the bottom of the boat. It has a 28” setback.

fredbrad 05-23-2018 05:57 PM

ok, thank you very much for such a quick response, in my case I can only leave it at 28" without major complications, I will be waiting for your water tests and adjusting the engine height, I have a little more time in which I finish other things, thank you very much for everything
:)

jctj123 05-30-2018 04:35 PM

wats cost like on that wanna do least setback as possibly on my 18sf gunna add trolling motor batts in front hatch and move tank forward wen I get floor redone.

It’s done

DonV 06-25-2018 10:22 AM

Josh, I saw your IG posts and if I'm allowed to say it......it's a bad ass SeaCraft!!!! :) :)

jnamowitz 06-25-2018 11:44 AM

Thank you very much Don. I am very happy with the outcome. I still have some tweaking to do on the inside deck hatch to make it water right or at least resistant, but it honestly rides so much smoother than when I had the IO. I know I’m gonna catch some flack for that statement, but it’s the truth. It was glassy early yesterday and then the storms came in and it built up to a 2-3’ chop. The way the boat seemed to slide off the waves and not pound blew my mind. A much needed improvement.

Billsseacraft 06-25-2018 01:39 PM

Great Job Josh! I know I already sent you congrats on Insta but again really nice ride!

Snookerd 06-25-2018 04:22 PM

Looking good Josh.....Bahamas 2019!!

jnamowitz 06-26-2018 06:24 PM

I'm down. By then I will have a bigger fuel tank and nav. System

77SceptreOB 06-26-2018 06:38 PM

Beautiful!!

natecert 06-27-2018 07:44 AM

Is that a 300? What ever HP, when you have some water time on it please post up performance #'s and mpg. I like the G2 but wow the price is up there.

Ed

DonV 06-27-2018 09:20 AM

Well Ed my brother's 250 HO G2 spent last week in the Keys, it did very good!! Normal day was around 3.2 - 3.5 mpg and power is NOT a problem. He's running the RX4 15" x 20 prop. If he stays off the throttle, which is hard to do sometimes in really flat water, his mpg is better. Josh has a 300 G2 and I would expect his numbers to be very similar.

jnamowitz 06-27-2018 01:13 PM

Nate, I shopped all the manufacturers and Evinrude was cheaper and lighter in comparison to all other makes. At $27,500 rigged for the 300 and having a 10 year warranty I couldn’t beat it. Here are the numbers from my first day out and like Don said, it’s very hard to not hammer down.....
At cruise between 3750 and 4000 rpm I was cruising around 37 knots burning 3.7gph.
At WOT I was at 5750rpm and getting 51 knots and burning 2gph.
I will say at WOT it’s stupid fast but being able to cruise around 35 knots and get that economy is amazing. The other amazing thing is no dealer maintenance for 500 hours or 5 years. I am extremely happy with my choice of the Stoner bracket and G2 engine combination. Any questions please ask as this was a 6 month long conversion that I did with the help of everyone on here. Thanks again guys for all the pointers.

thehermit 06-27-2018 01:40 PM

58 MPH !?!?!

Your cruise is my WOT. What are you running for a prop?

NICE BOAT! ;)

jnamowitz 06-27-2018 01:52 PM

It’s a 14-1/8 x 20 4 blade stainless mercury prop.

thehermit 06-27-2018 02:23 PM

Which Merc prop?

Are you sure that's (k)not MPH? :)

jnamowitz 06-27-2018 04:56 PM

Sorry. It’s this one. http://www.boatersland.com/mwc993205...hoCzBEQAvD_BwE

I popped his numbers in merc’s prop slip calculator and to hit 51 knots he would be at zero slip. At 51 statute slip is about 13% which sounds about right trimmed out WOT.

In Sebastian I was able to hit 44 knots with mine with 18 gal of fuel and 2 people on board getting 1.8 nmpg @ 6100.

Still, very impressive fuel burn at cruise on the G2. I never see more than 2.8 @ 32 knots which is 3.1 statue.

It was super light. 1/4 tank of fuel. Once I filled the tank and loaded up my family most I could get was 45 knots. Here is a pic as my wife was yelling at me to slow down..... Ha

I get that a lot... especially when the wife's wine gets shook out of her Dixie cup at speed.

Boat looks great and you got done just in time for the hot part of the boating season!

The #'s are almost to good to be true but I do believe you. Price you paid is about 1 k below what I thought, I could be wrong but I believe the Suk. would be about 2-3 K less all being equal. Beautiful boat and the G2 looks great on the transom.

For the 23 Tsunami I'm working on, if I could get 2.8 mpg statute I would be able down size the fuel tank size. My goal is to have over 500 mile range with a full tank.

We shall see.

DonV 06-29-2018 07:37 AM

I'm with ya Ed, I'd love to replace my fuel tank from 144 gal to around 100 gal. The guy I bought my boat from was big into grouper fishing and he ran out from Tarpon Springs to the middle grounds all the time with an OMC V-6 looper with the 144 gallon tank full plus a couple of fuel bladders. Now that I've re-powered I have no need for the extra weight that far to the rear of the boat..
