Sure his wife and family would appreciate it ! |
Gillie and I had corresponded about our Seafari’s for years and also about his Moesly 21 which looked just like the one a good friend of mine had bought new in 1965. Gillie wanted to come to the Anclote Gathering in October 2013 after visiting his sister in Jacksonville. However the motel we were using was full, so I offered him a spare bunk in my Seafari. I was planning to stay on the boat during the gathering, so Gillie was my guest aboard the Restless Lady for a couple of nights. We got to know each other quite well over those two days and you could never meet a nicer guy . . . well educated and articulate but friendly, happy and humble with a great sense of humor. Everything about him in that obituary was absolutely true! Gillie’s eloquent posts on the forum were a pleasure to read - he will surely be missed by veteran CSC members.

Oh no Gillie !!!!!!!! I am so sorry to hear this.

Very sad to hear this! I enjoyed meeting him at the Anclote gathering in 2013 with Denny.
|
Terrible news. I alway enjoyed his post.

RIP Gillie.
I'm sure God is providing him on a smooth ride like his SeaCraft did here on earth. |
Thanks for the heads up Tim. Although I never got to meet Gil I had talked with him on the phone several times, and corresponded with e mails and PM's on this site. He was a true gentleman and like Bushwacker says very intelligent and articulate. From talking with him it seems he led a good life and accomplished the stuff he aspired to do. One of the things he loved was trout fishing in the sierras. We had planned to meet once up in the mountains but it did not pan out on my end for whatever reason. Those that got to meet him consider yourself smart for taking the time to bond with a fellow Seacraft brother. Gil also had a great sense of humor. I remember asking him how found he found his 21 and his reply was he used google earth to locate it!

Prayers to His family and friends..... Fair and following seas Brother
