Mr Seacraft

I have some sad news, Mr Seacraft aka Carl Moesly passed at home in Key Largo with family around early this morning. Carl was 97 years old and was at peace. We though the CSC family should know.

NoBones 12-29-2018 06:21 AM

Skip & Carla, you have our deepest heart felt condolences !
I too lost my dad who was 92 years old on Dec 3 this month....

Please let "Mom" Jeanne know she is in our thoughts and prayers...

Topflitegraphics 12-29-2018 10:02 AM

He may be gone but his legacy will clearly live on forever. He created one of the most timeless boat designs ever. RIP Mr. Moesly and thank you

Capt Chuck 12-29-2018 10:18 AM

Our deepest sympathy to the Family of Carl.
It was a pleasure to have known him personality and cherished several SeaCraft get-togethers with him.
His legend lives on .

It’s a sad day. I’m going to spend it in the Gulf on my Seafari hunting Grouper. Hope he is watching over us. My condolences Skip and Carla. Godspeed.

Michael.

Carl’s Legacy Will Live On!

Carla & Skip-
So sorry. Nice to know he was so physically close to you in his final days. Although we never met your parents personally, we both so enjoyed your photos and stories about them. And like so many others we have had years of enjoyment on the great crafts he created.
Anita and Terry

Skip and Carla-I am sorry to hear of your Dad passing. I enjoyed the times I had a chance to talk with him. His life inspires all of us to pursue our dreams and to hang it all out there! Prayers to your family.
Ken-Sorry to hear that your dad passed as well! Praying for you!

I will always remember Carl for his beautiful mind.

Water coming in a scupper with folks in the corner?
Cross the scupper hoses.

Brackets and their challenges?
Just extend the hull.

Who needs a pump for a live well?
Not Carl.

When I first met Carl and Jeanne, I saw a love and respect you rarely see anymore.

The pilot`s pilot has a new vector.

Cheers and thank you Carl and family,
Sandy n Janet

Skip and Carla, so sorry to hear of Carl’s passing. I know it was not unexpected, but that doesn’t make it any easier and you have our deepest sympathy. It should be comforting to know that you absolutely did everything possible to make your folks comfortable, give them the best of care and see them so often these last few months. Please tell Jeane that she also is in our thoughts and prayers.

Your dad was an amazingly creative and adventurous guy and it was truely a privilege to have met and talked with him on several occasions. It’s very rare to meet such a successful man who was yet so humble and modest that you’d have no clue of his many accomplishments, at least until he began relating some of his famous stories!

Thoughts and prayers to Carl’s family. What a legacy he created in addition to Seacraft fanatics like myself. My family owned the Pilot House for years and spent a lot of time in Key Largo as a young man. Remember staring at your Seacraft next to Snappers every time I was there. RIP Mr. SeaCraft.

Thank you everyone for your kind words.
He was truly a great man, husband and father.
He will be missed.

Well Carla and Skip, he watched over me the last two days. Yesterday we headed out 13 miles to 10’. At 8 miles began trolling due to fog. Got bad. Made it to our spot where visibility was less than 200’ on anchor. Discussed jumping overboard just before a dead on near miss. Then boated a legit 25” Gag. The ride home was worse. Stayed too long, fog did not lift until inside the Hernando Beach channel. Bow light quit at most inopportune time. Got inside, banged on the deck twice and she lit. Much less excitement today, and no keepers. Miss my Dad every day. Prayers and condolences. Peace.

Michael.

Skip and Carla,

Truly sorry to hear about your Dad. I was just mentioning him to a customer before I left for vacation and encouraged the customer to read "The Amazing Mr. Mosely" article that listed so many of his accomplishments.

I am sure he is looking down on each of you with a huge smile.

Fr. Frank 12-31-2018 05:39 PM

Carla & Skip,
I'm very glad your Dad was at peace and at home when he passed. I will remember him fondly for the rest of my life. I first met Carl back at Frank Brown's "back in the day". He was kind enough to explain a number of things to a young man just getting started in marina management. He was the reason we took up selling SeaCraft boats when Frank Brown stopped.

Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend your servant Carl. Acknowledge, we humbly beseech you, a sheep of your own fold, a lamb of your own flock, a sinner of your own redeeming. Receive him into the arms of your mercy, into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light. Amen.

Skip and Carla, I give you my deepest condolences!! He defiantly will never be forgotten. His legacy will always live on! Wish I had the chance to meet him as he's mind was so far ahead of the time. Prayers sent out...

A true legend!

Islandtrader 01-15-2019 08:33 AM

Sorry I have been out of the loop..

Sad to hear of his passing...will remember him every time the 21 is on the water.

A friend of mine said to him "I want your life" and she only talked to him for a few hours.

TomParis 03-29-2019 02:48 PM

Condolences to the family, and I am thankful for what he did for all of us to have the boats we have today!

kmoose 04-04-2019 07:51 AM

In the most recent Professional Boatbuilder Magazine an article from 2004 was referenced as well as a current profile of Carl by Steve D'Antonio. A very good read with interesting pics..

Carla,

A few years ago while visiting Carl he gave me his old drafting kit saying I may need it someday if a blew a fuse... Inside I found this poem he wrote. He had such a beautiful mind and will always mean the world to me. Hope all is well.

Sincerely,
Steve

gofastsandman 06-26-2019 06:44 PM
