An amazing ride with Steve aka Flying Time
Some of you may be familiar with Steve aka Flying Time. He is a gifted designer of hulls and
a protege of Carl`s. He designed a prototype/ proof of design concept for the Tribute 37. The Tribute 37 did 87 mph with trip Merc 400Rs before the pipe work. Just amazing! The name of his company is Cross Step. He incorporated the VDR with just a few twists and turns and a little spice. A mighty rad Gumbo it is indeed. I believe he is working on his second patent for the design. The design includes steps athwart and the longitudinal steps we are more familiar with here at CSC. The design is also vented, but is unique to my eye. 25 ft. and has a beautiful barrel back with a wonderful vintage lake racer sheer line. Steve came by the Jensen Bch gathering Sunday morning. He had been torturing me with the promise of a ride for a while and I was Sandy excited. That`s a lot for those who may not know me. There were tight white caps littering the ICW and off we went into the rainy ditch. She is powered by a G1 250 HO ETec. Cold molded 3 mm cedar diagonally planked and glassed over. We saw 63 with fuel and us pilgrims, but that is hardly the story here. We call it "The Ride" on CSC and boy oh boy did she deliver. She got on top and just sat there with nary a whisper of complaint or fuss. Just solid and soft at the same time. All of a piece comes to mind here. Steve thought she could use a tad more weight aft, but I was none the wiser. She felt perfect to me. Thanks Steve! |
Pics or it didn’t happen.

Very fast and wet, but I am still grinning. Video quality 0. I was mostly trying to stay in the boat at speed. |
So does this mean down the road, there will be a Cross Step 25' coming to the market,
which will have Seacraft genes and history in the blood line? a 23 on steroids? Sandy is this creature currently in embryo stage? |
Im Jealous

The bottom is under the current Tribute 37. https://www.tributeboats.com/ The 25 is a one off. I almost forgot. She held plane at 7 mph!!! Flat. I did see 6.9 I`ll review the short vids again, but i think they are unwatchable. There was a lot of high frequency bouncing and rain. |
Steve has a video of the 37 being chased by the 25.
That video is much better. |

Wow, that is just plain sexy!

She hit 74 up north in cold temps and the jack plate jacked.
Hull weight is 1730#s or thereabouts. I hear the Tribute 37 on Singer Island will be re-powered with the new Merc 450s. One of the "old" 400Rs will find the transom of the 25! How can I change the video format? |

Records may me set by the 37 On the 25 it seemed like it couldn't get much better then it dose or will Did you ask Steve about what he is going to do with our sister, the red 28???? |

The 400R may be 440 at the prop at 7k. I`m sure the 250 HO is 275. Steve will get a licensing free for each hull produced, so he may start the racer before us. I`m hoping to learn from him as are the rest of us haha. They did get their patent for the running surface and are working on another. I believe the vent is the other patent. I was over at Tribute around lunch time today and saw the design on the drafting board. I had looked at the vents long and hard at the PB show, but I didn`t get it design wise. It makes perfect sense now. I`ll look at the hull again next week with a new light bulb. |
If I die and I am reincarnated I want to design a boat like that. Sick!!
He should do a limited run of five. |
