"Cancelled"
Where as our west coast Florida gathering was squashed by that
pesky red tide crap, we need to focus on a spring ding gathering in the Sunshine state.... East coast, West coast or Panhandle ???? Lets make it a "BIG' one as 2020 will be a great year !! Suggestion time begins, the sooner the better to get locked in .... |
The sooner the better as to leave the summer open for our Bahamas MOAG II. Anyone interested in trying our luck a second time at T3’s???
Once we get input on locations and times from our crew, I can post a poll.... |
Danny, I do not think the Bahama's will be back together by then...
Most every where we are used to there is GONE !! |
My preference would be east coast as just about everything is closed on the west coast as far as fishing goes. East coast spring offers blue water and bottom fishing for gags starts May 1st. I'm kind of partial to Sebastian and the campground is good. I would be staying at the Sportsmans and can reserve the pavilion for our group. Lots of option in the area.
I also wouldn't mind St Augustine or south of there some. Anywhere within reasonable distance from an inlet would be good. |

Was looking at Capt Hiram's just up the street from Sportsman's...
A little pricey, but they do weekend rentals... Looked at 05/01/2020 for dates, was open as of now... What say you all ? |

I'm digging it and will probably be there for two weeks.
|
Last year the trolling was on fire and Ron's grandson got personnel best wahoo and tuna in just 120' of water. I will be able to provide some help to folks coming that are not familiar with the area on places offshore to fish if the group goes in this direction.
|
I was looking up and down the coast on sat maps and really didn't see a whole lot that seams to fit the venu. The no dockside inn has docks now and it looks like they raised prices as well. Capt Hirams is doable if you can get a room on water, otherwise you have to go across the street.
Think the Sportsmans is the best, alas, they only reserve for a week or more. They do take walk ups, but that is very iffy. They are filled now and it seems there are a lot of people that are still there after season. |

There is no doubt that we have a severe shortage of waterfront venues
in central Florida that cater to the boating community !! I just need to win the lottery.... Trust me I play 44 2 every week.. |
Mr. Nobones: Place looks great. Was May 1 the earliest you could get us in? Going to be hard waiting 7 months!

I have a flip down insert to support my mini motel tent. 24x72 with liner, fly, and custom inflatable magic slumber support group. |
I looked at the former "No" Dockside Inn Ft Pierce, FL.
They rebuilt the docks with 58 slips... Rooms on the web site are around $169 a night Dockage for a 20 for the weekend would be around a $100.. If someone who lives down there would do a recon and touch bases with the management to see what they could do for April / May and report back that would be great ! If not I will run down there after Thanksgiving and try to strike a deal if the rest of you agree.. Bring it on.. |
Spoke w Lois at the DSI and most weekends are booked out with tournaments or Mothers
day. May 1-2 is almost WideOPen. Only 3 rooms booked. 20 rooms and 7 Angler Apts which have grills. So 7 grills. They have a meeting room but no food or drinks allowed... 15 % discount for groups. The Party booking gal Shawn will be back this Wed. so will try to get better rates this week. Anyone local who can put eyes on the place? We will want to scoop up rooms quickly as this is dolphin season. Mothers day is the following weekend. Trailer parking onsite. Cheers, gfs |
I like May 1st...
If we can get a deal going by next week everyone will need to make the commitment. This should be a good date for most ! Plan is for Patti & I is to make the trip down the ditch (ICW) in the SeaFari "No Intention"... Should be a fun 112 mile run .. Already getting excited, and at my age now is pretty good ! :) Good job Sandy ! |
Dockside Inn
FWIW
Anita & i looked at DSI before CSC last considered it and it looked like a good party spot. (Right across the inlet from where I spent hours skiing as a teenager in the mid to late 60s). This was before the new docks. During another Fla visit maybe 6-8 months ago I went with a friend during a refueling trip for his 38’ Campbell As we passed the mostly empty dockage at DSI he remarked the dockage was empty due to the inlet current ripping through there. If one can get close to shore it would be less severe. We hope to attend but once again probsbly w/o Near-Sea, a long tow from SC. |
Great job Sandy and Ken, great recon.. Jonas and Corbin are graduating in May, besides the middle of the month, I will try to swing it. The Bahamas 🇧🇸 run is still on the table with Conner, so the MOAG 2 still has traction.

Don't know if there's any campers left in the crowd after the last Longpoint gathering, but we just spent eight days there and had pretty nice weather and good time. We stayed with five other campers. We had a water site, but kept the boat on the trailer. Maybe it was the king tide thing going on, or just a different shoreline than last time I stayed there. The 23 would have been a chore to get into from the shore. There was always someone in the group that would back me in the water and a phone call when I returned got me loaded on the trailer.
|
Nice! We are booked for the last week of April and the first Week of May. We will probably just drive down to the gathering for the festivities as we were already booked in Sebastian prior. Hope to get out with you then.
|
So did I miss the official announcement? Is Dockside Inn the Spring gathering place?

I`ll be scouting this Sunday. Sean is our contact. She has been having problems with their computer. The rates are 15% off for starters. The WPB fishin` club has been doing this there for a few years now. Capt. Chuck and I are members and I will compare our rates vs theirs and dock fees. Sean is sending me an email tomorrow and we will go from there. The 7 angler rooms have grills and I understand there are some picnic tables. Hmm. Did I say picnic tables? Will report back tomorrow night. Cheers, GFS |
Do they allow Golden Retrievers on their picnic tables?

Merry Christmas all!! Any update on this event?

The docks are a tad low. They all have ladders. The grills are 2x2.5 charcoal and old. Three. The rates are 15% off. 2.25 per ft. dockage. |
I found an alternate. Davis house in Sebastian. Looks nice. They have 13 rooms available
presently. Slips for 6-8 boats. No mention of slip fees on their WS. The owner sounds like a great guy. Has a 30 ft straight shaft comm boat. I think we may have found an east coast landing spot for our gatherings moving forward. Rooms will be 140-150 per nt. Can someone local do a recon please? Cheers and HNY davishouseinn.com |

Looking at the ariel there is a long dock across the street ?? |

Looking at the ariel there is a long dock across the street ??[/QUOTE] I'll have to check that out. Many moons ago, my daughter's wedding reception was at Hiram's and the best man from my wedding, captained my SeaCraft for the bride and groom to leave. They got off the boat on that dock and walked to Davis House. At the time, that dock was used to offload Kingfish. |
Pet friendly room and ash trays on the picnic tables? We?re in.
Part II |
Just got back from recon sirs. Capt Butchers is not looking good. The guy said that almost all dock space is permanent. No place for a cookout.
I talked to owner of Davis and we walked out to the dock, its about 250' to 300' from motel. It has 3 single slips and room for about 4 more boats. The water was out with the low tide and SW wind today and there was only about a foot of water along the walk to the slips, but tide was unusually low. He opened up one of the rooms and it looked real nice. There is a tiki hut and deck with a grill and cook out would not be a problem. There is also a separate house for rent (3 day min) that is right across the street from the dock. There is also a dock next door at squid lips(didn't stop to check that). I forgot to ask about any dock fees, but I think the site says its free. Looks doable. |
So what happened to the Dockside Inn plan? Have we officially punted on that location?
|

DSI has no place for us to feast on Sat night. They have a Tiki hut but want to cater. PFFFT. |
I can get the pavilion at the Sportsmans if that will help out as we are booked for two week in that timeframe. Let me know and I will lock it down.
