McRae’s anyone?

Just spoke with the office and there’s plenty of availability weekend of 9/18. Scallop season closes 9/24. No group discounts this time of year and the Gator Room is now $150/nite. Ramps have been packed on the weekends last 30 days so there must be some out there. Thought it might be an easy gathering since we’ve been there before and our last couple gatherings have been cancelled. I guess if we did a group dinner we could lift our masks between bites. KC Crumps across the river is open and takes reservations to insure proper social distancing. What’ya think?

Vezo, Part II 08-10-2020 02:39 PM

I’d be in for sure! Love that place!

Hate to be a wimp, however there is not a chance in hell the wife will want to go with the China virus crap going on!!! It sucks!

77SceptreOB 08-13-2020 11:21 AM

We currently have plans to be in Puerto Rico that weekend, so I'm out unless COVID messes up the PR plan.

Damn Bro, Sorry to hear that. Recover quick!

Michael.

uncleboo 08-14-2020 04:25 PM

You might have to get Patti to bring you a slash to stay 'warm and comfortable'! Hey, get her to call Bushwacker and see if he has a bit of Pappy you could get. That is a miracle elixir!

strick 08-14-2020 08:44 PM

That really sucks Ken...seems that all the accidents happen at home. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

strick

rcnight 08-14-2020 08:52 PM

Dang Ken - you should of had them replace it since it’s broken. All kidding aside, hope your recovery goes well. McRae’s not getting much traction, so don’t think you’ll be missing anything. Get well.

wow, that sucks, I'll get my speedy recovery voodoo doll out and start the healing vibe...

fwiw, I've been working on my new to me 77 MA and have been in and out of the boat via ladder at least 500 times in this last few weeks. I never think about slipping, instead I'm mindlessly focused on what ever task at hand. I'll definitely take your mishap as a reminder to slow down. I'm no spring chicken anymore either, taking a slip or fall would not be fun.

get well soon

NoBones 08-17-2020 10:59 AM

Thanks guys for all the well wishes and phone calls !!
This is a nasty thing to have happen ... Never ever thought at 66 would be in that category. The part I feel so foolish about, it was from the second step of an 8 ft fiberglass ladder up against the bow rail of the Seafari..
I mean what are we talking 18 inches ? Wet feet in Crocs and sweating in side
my barn with fans blowing... Ooops, slip completely go horizontal to the deck !
Thunk, crack !!
Just that fast I passed out from pain and could not get-up (Here we go )
This was around 1:30 Tuesday afternoon. Thank God Lil' Kenny just happen to stop by and found me shortly after as I was trying to at least get my self in a chair... 911, EMT's could not find me cause' we do not exist on GPS..
Kenny hopped on 4 wheeler to guide them in...

This is some bad ass pain if you want to know !

CaptLloyd 08-17-2020 11:16 AM

Ken,

Sorry to hear about your fall, what a bummer.

I recently bought Merrell (tidewater, i think). Recommended by a friend who was a volunteer for Palm Beach County Sheriff Marine Patrol. Part of their uniform. Good traction, light weight, drain holes and better support than crocs. They are fast becoming one of my favorite shoes. Ordered them online- might have been through REI.

Capt Terry 08-20-2020 09:51 PM

Correction:
The great boat shoes are Merrell Tideriser Sieve. Aptly named, lots of drain holes! Says Hydromorph on side of sole near heel and Vibram near toe.

uncleboo 08-21-2020 06:58 AM

They have a canvas boat shoe as well. Been wearing them for years. Plenty of traction.

99% overall with zero pain. As with any prosthetic joint there are some physical/operational differences as well as some slight movement limitations, but nothing I would trade for the pain and discomfort I had prior. I can't even imagine how terrible quality of life would be without the modern medical advancements in joint replacements. A few days ago I was spearfishing in 280' like I was 15 years ago.

2 minutes of shooting with minimal deco time. Can usually squeeze in 4 dives at that depth a day.

Ed 09-02-2020 11:45 PM

Ken, very sorry to hear about your fall. I hope you get better soon.
