Back in the saddle

With my severe OCD, can't help myself coming back from my slip & fall...
Back on my 1974 Seafari project. Yep you guessed it, going overboard on the freshin' up process. Getting all the rewiring done on the 4.3 Mercruiser. Replacing every damn thing there is to replace, whether it needs it or not. Decided to pull the heads and get them to a machine shop for a going over. Manifolds & risers (this one really hurt) carb, (ouch on this one) starter, alternator, the list goes on and on.. UPS, USPS & FedUp here every day. Patti getting suspicious... Told her 401K and savings are un-touched ! Been bartering with a friend that has a marine shop, bullets for parts. Thank God I reload. ;) Thinking I will live long enough to finish this.... Where does it end ? Attachment 23713 Attachment 23714 Attachment 23715 |
Don't forget the oil pan coating.

looks like fun to me, projects like this keep us young at heart and mind.

Seafari
Ken,
I had just intended on using the Seafari as it was and replacing the I/O with a bracket if the motor or drive ever gave out. Glad to see you back up and around and enjoying one of your passions. Barry |

Both Chuck's ... No racist here ! I believe in equal balance through out.. Yeah, keep dreaming. The only way you will ever get me to abandon my shop, is burn me out ! |
Lol I have walkie talkies so I can communicate with the wife. Once in a while she walks out to make sure I'm still alive. :)

Penn 700 spinners and on and on. I may have even seen a Quick reel there. |
You just rang a bell...My grandfather had all Quick reels on his rigs...I think I was 8 when I first used one..he only bought the best stuff...I tend to throw stuff out that I no longer use and then it comes back to bite me later...like for instance right now I got to go and check the garbage for a Li ion battery that wont take a charge for a specific metal detector that I found out the battery can be rebuilt...

Took time today to fabricate two removable bilge pump / float switch assemblies. They attach to the top of the stringer with a waterproof quick connector. One forward and aft...

Attachment 23799 Attachment 23800 Bikecop, will get a good pic when crawling back in bilge. (Added link below) Will not be this weekend, going to visit 94 year old mom tomorrow ! Also a little giddy now, bringing back my original 1990 Dodge Ramcharger that I gave to my parents 21 years ago.. Been sitting since dad passed away 3 years ago. Next project on the bucket list. :) Link to eBay connectors |
Ken, I expected a slightly lighter project as part of the rehabilitation plan….. Ehhhh, not really. Glad you’re back at it!
And by the way, you didn’t tell me how much free time you lose when you retire. It’s going to take 2 years to get through all the projects Mel has lined up for me before I can get to what I want to do! |
Moose I retired March 1st don’t see a end to projects yet if not her it’s the family!

Hehe... Us old guys would not be happy sitting on the back porch watching the weeds grow !! This is what keeps us going..
Got my ole' Ramcharger back this weekend, reason why my dad had 93 good years and one bad month. Attachment 23804 |
I remember driving "nobones" out of the ramp @ Homosassa. Good to see the the Ole Gal still humping.
My 1988 Ramcharger had the reliable 318 cu.in. 4 Wheel floor stick drive. damn body rotted out before that engine gave up. |
I had an '83 Ramcharger Royale 4x4 that was a beast. I had Dana 60 rear and 44 front differentials. I replaced the original Thermo-quad with a simple mechanical 600 cfm Edelbrock and installed a Crane hydro-roller camshaft kit for off-road trucks with lots more lift that greatly improved my low-end torque. I put a small (3.5") lift kit on it to clear the 34x10.50R15" tires. Interior was Rhino-liner with overhead rifle and rod racks. It had some light rust, but nothing that wasn't fixable with readily available repair panels.
I had just parked the truck in front of the house after doing my volunteer USAF Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol stuff on base one day, and a trio of guys in military uniforms hopped out. One was an American USAF officer and the other two were a Jordanian and Saudi C-130 pilots who were doing flight training here at Eglin AFB. They had seen me driving the truck back from Eglin AFB and had followed me off the base. The Saudi pilot offered me $9,000 cash for the truck if I would conclude the deal that day, because they were flying to Jordan the next day and had to arrange to ship it home. I miss that truck. |

Remember that around "73 the 23" Tsunami got Sued by "Tsunami Boats" out of Sebring , FL. In which they had the Name Brand. He had to quit using the name so change was to "Septre". I never have heard of Seaquarious. Potter told me the 23" Tsunami were built for speed. They hull also was totally foam filled like the Boston Whalers. I think all hulls were black. (Pics below) Lots of teakwood trim & fold down splash well. My friend bought his in '86 and still owns it.
|
I always thought these were bad ass!!! :)
|
23’ or 20’?
|
23'
|
Another Formula splash but with better than most lines. They are difficult to rebuild with all the foam but I have seen some good restorations on a few.
