Seafari 25' Found & Rescued
2 Attachment(s)
Hello CSC Fam -
Found a 72 Seafari 25' last week and decided to take her home. Spent several hours Sat digging her out of the resting spot where she's been sitting for the past 31yrs on some heavily wooded property in S FLA. HIN is state issued and doesn't reflect SIC as manuf code as my SF 20 does so I cant confirm her story via any boat HIN identification tools on previous ownership. Supposedly she was commissioned by the GA Marine Patrol and outfitted with a single 460 Ford I/O. Following that she was sold/purchased by a fellow that owned a Volvo Penta Dealer ship and outfitted her with a turbo TMD40 and Duoprop Penta drive. Another part of the story is being it was commissioned as Marine Patrol boat the hull may be thicker than personal craft models??? I've read through some threads and was hoping for some more knowledgeable Seafari experts to add any thoughts on this? I don't care as much if this is the actual story, just hoping for any info that could come from an inquiry here on her ownership history. Is there a registry someone has on Hull #'s, ownership, etc.? What Hull # is this one? Any info or feedback is appreciated. Thx MBB |
Nice find!!!

Holy Smokes! what a score. congrats

Nice find! Glad to see one rescued. A few rebuild threads here. Check all your bulkheads, transom, and under the boat fuel tanks. Make sure to take thorough pics even of what you think is “trash” it may be very helpful down the road…this is my biggest regret.
What’s the serial number and data on capacity plate? That will help us decode some data. I’m in same situation with HIN. Mine was made mid72 but is registered as a ‘73 in Hawaii with a state issued HIN. No HIN on stern as per law but such is life. I’m getting a stainless plate made and adding to my boat. |
Very nice. Congrats.

My hull has a HIN plate In hopes to go through her more thoroughly in the coming weeks when removing the massive inline 6 diesel and Penta outdrive. Everything looked extremely dry and mostly rot free from what I can see though hatches. Once motor is out and drive is off I plan to go through and document thoroughly + give her a good clean to see whats what. I'm impressed with how well she's been preserved considering its been on the hard outdoors for 31+ years. These pics don't do her justice but wanted to share pics of the condition when rescued. |

Wow. A pressure washer will do wonders for you. It brings back memories for me seeing yours.
Here’s what I meant. https://i.postimg.cc/r0B4N89k/6-E846...37409-BD64.jpg 25cio means 25’ console Inboard/Outboard, 25037 tells you it’s 25’ #37 made that sticker should be up by steering wheel. Mine was really faded but use a piece of paper and pencil you’ll get it off. |

Mine was right below switch plate near your steering wheel. I can’t tell if it’s there or not in your pic. Maybe it’s under the grime there. That will give you some data but not as much as a real sea craft issued HIN.
I wish we could get access to company records on the build sheets. |

Is the photo of that capacity plate something you had remade? Yours looks so fresh and new. |
Yes it’s one I had made by machine plates online.
I can give you my sales rep and invoice number for them to make one for you. $50 shipped Original looks identical but was a sticker. I made it as kind of symbolic of ive finished the body work. |

I received your DM and will share measurements after this wknd when I head over to storage. |
DM sent with details. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one to do this here but I can’t recall who gave me the inspiration. Lots of guys have done very thorough rebuilds.
Unfortunately many pics no longer hosted. Blue Heron strick And now me have thorough rebuild threads Terry and I did multiple balance calculations. Cdavisb owned one (but sold it recently…I’m still sad Connor) I’m sure there’s more but my memories running out of film sorry guys. |

My 20 seafari had the original sticker inside the cabin so it was still in pretty good condition. I had a new one made up anyway.

It would be great if you would either PM me or post for all the replacement source for your metal plate. My sticker, under the steering wheel, is still there but a bit tattered. Also would like to get one of my HIN. When I redid my transom I masked over the HIN so it wouldn’t get filled with paint and obliterated. A metal plate would cover the original HIN with the old. faded paint. Thanks |
I will second the vote for Machine Plates Online. They did an awesome job on mine.
