Back burner personal project. Will be laying glass soon though! Making her longer as originally intended.
Hull was all twisted, outer step was pushed up about 1.5" so i thrubolted those timbers to pull it back into plane with the keel, chine and other step. Crappy trailer support and rotted bulkheads allowed it. Basically ground a big bevel half the thickness of the hull (1/4" or so afterward) and bridged the gap with 1/4" material. Jig was taken off the transom piece which was still in proper shape. Will layup half new thickness on the inside then bottom gets a similar bevel when its upside down. A few diagonal strings pulled from bow to stern and the eyecrometer to get it all lined up. 2 outboards hanging off with a big platform and walkthrough transom i know will happen, the rest is up in the air. Likely will keep the foredeck and first few feet of the trunk cabin and come up with a small house from there. Small folding second station on hardtop. |

Will do a few layers on the bottom before i put the hullside molds up, easier to work with open access. Got some 60" wide biax that will make nice keel overlaps...

Oh yea! Great project!
|
That’s just cool.
I wish I could get my hands on one of those around here but I’m thinking the wife would be very displeased. Seriously jealous bro. |
You sir have some hutzpah!
Good luck with the project. I am sure it will turn out as good as your others. Is this out in front of your house on the Scenic A1A highway where I saw Squid Lips tied up across the street on the ICW a few years back while on vacation? |
Indian River Blvd...... Mainland.

Hey Ken
You were close. Indian River DRIVE, near where I grew up. Didnt know Chris until a few years ago, but our kids knew his cousins. We sat with his aunt and uncle at football games at Martin County HS. Small world. |

I live 4 miles south of Indian River Blvd. in Edgewater. Had that on the brain to far into happy hour.. :D Hope all is well with you and Anita ! |
Love the jig...that’s gonna be real nice deep sea cruiser! Was surprised to see wood stringers? If you were closer I’d give you my 20 ma to finish up lol...

What is your estimate of the finished LOA with the bracket ? |
Subscribed!

A bit over 30ft Chuck… Adding 44” to running surface.
|
Perfect length according to an old Rybovich guy!
|
Carl himself said he designed the hull to be be 30
ft !! Told me to my face in Key Largo many years ago.. The Government had to have it 27' to fit on the war ships.. The rest is history. God bless Carl ! |

Hey Ken was trying to correct you as pleasantly and tactfully as i could. Didn't want to slam a friend! One of my longest running and still best friends grew up a few miles north of Dirtwheels on the DRIVE. Regards to Patti. |
Now that the vessel’s location has been clarified, i expect at least 3 people to come help mix n spread epoxy! hehehe

Had to get hullsides laid up before the mold weathered away!
Gonna do another layup in the new section for some more bulk and overlaps in keel and chines. Transom will get a few layers tied into new hullsides as well. |

Mold pics. Very high tech. Basically used a batten to find the chine taper location as it goes back to the new transom, and fastened the bottom to a fair chine line. Aft corner mimicked the original lines but added a bit more tumblehome toward the top. The material i used took some nice fair curves for the most part...

The name Seamonster is gonna stick...

Onward and upward. Transom is cut for 30" shafts at 28" centers. I was advised by a higher power to keep the motor centerlines around 8" away from the step, and ive got almost 9" at that spot...
The outer sections will be cut down some more, gotta figure out stringer/deck height and whatnot... |
Have you been over to see the higher power`s boat?

Lots of grinding, lots of glassing. Keel and main stringers are in. 2 layers 1700 in bottom, more in the keel underneath stringers.
The original keel stringer was set in midway thru the main hull lamination so it was pretty thin underneath it (actually had been worn clean thru in some spots on the bottom). The other stringers were set in after the hull was laminated then wrapped/tabbed in so they were a bit easier to deal with. Shes giving up a fight thats for sure! Coring hullsides next then onto bulkheads. Im no artist, the transoms a bit wonky but you can get the idea... |
The drawings in specifications come in really handy for developing your plans don’t they! Don’t think 1/2 the people have looked at them and they are a tremendous resource. If you work at and scale them out you can get a pretty good idea where you need to put things. ( mentioned for others not for you dirt—work looks fantastic!)
